She is likely too young to have been the Elizabeth Ellington who was a new member of Emmaus Primitive Baptist Church in Upson County, Ga., in 1850. However, she is the only known Elizabeth in Upson County at the time.

7 vi. Mary Mattie A.C. ELLINGTON Smith was born in Upson County, Ga. 1843. Mary died 15 APR 1918 in Upson County, Ga.. She married Thomas O. SMITH in Upson County, Ga., 16 OCT 1877 (and Dec. 11, 1871 with Mollie Ellington), but the license was not returned on either date. In 1881 was certified that marriage had taken place in 1877.
