By old tradition, the MacKinnons claim to be of the royal Clan Alpin stock, descended and named from Fingon, brother to Andrew who was ancestor to Grigor and the MacGregors and great-grandson of Kenneth MacAlpin. On the question of the original descent of the Clan MacKinnon a difficulty has arisen which will never now be solved. An ancient document has been discovered, which traces the origin of the Clan to Fergus II. the Great, son of Erc, who held a part of Britain with the Dalriadic Kingdom, and died A.D. 502.

I had heard stories that Claud McKinnon was shot back behind the barn. But no one has been able to confirm this nor tell me why or how he was shot.

ARNOLD--Orville McKinnon, 85, of Arnold, died Monday at Manchester Nursing Home, Ballwin, Mo.

Born July 6, 1896, in Sikeston, Mo., he was a son of the late Bill McKinnon. He was a retired builder.

Surviving are his wife, Lennie (Jones) McKinnon of Arnold; two sons, Thomas McKinnon of Arnold and Russell L. McKinnon of Fenton, and three daughters, Irene Lohman of High Ridge, Doris Conway of St. Louis County and Charlotte Luecke of Arnold.

Services will be at the Heiligtag Funeral Home in Arnold at 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 18. Interment will be in Shepherd Hills Cemetery.

Among survivors are her husband, Edward J. Irene Lohman always told me that she grew up on a farm in Dunklin County, Missouri and that she would go fishing quite frequently with her grandmother. Her father would work in St. Louis and would come home on weekends. Being the oldest daughter, she watched over the other children and always told me that her mother had her do all the housework. One thing I found interesting is that she told me not long before she died that her blood type was different from both her parents. This would make be believe that she was fathered by another man. She also said that no one else in the family had health problems like she did. I have tried to locate her and her family on the 1930 census with no luck. The closest Irene I can find is below. At the time of her birth, her family resided at 1419a Bremen, St. Louis, MO.

Mr. McKinnon was an arc welder for a steel-erection building company.
