You're looking at my website now, but to briefly summarize my Dobie interests, they
are the descendants of John David Dobie and Mary Isabella Russell who came to
Canada with their family in 1849. Their children settled in the Chatsworth, Owen Sound, Bruce Mines, Thessalon and
Port Arthur areas of Ontario. Scottish roots are in the town of Dumfries and village
of Tinwald.

It includes:
- 1658 descendants of Thomas Dobie and Adam Scott Elliot through 7
generations - with spouses and spouses' parents, over 2500 people.
- Photographs of the early generations in most lines.
- 236 exhibits - obituaries, wedding announcements, news items, letters, etc.
- Descendant charts through 2nd great grandchildren.

My g-g-grandparents.were Mary Dorothy Dobie, born June 2, 1861 at St.Eloi, Quebec.
Married to Camille Couture, born 1851 at Trois Pistoles, Que. They lived in Bay
City, Michigan when my g-grandmother, Marie Louise Couture, was born Jan. 17, 1885. They
later moved to the Algoma district of Ontario (Blind River, Spragge, Thessalon). I hope
to find more relatives and info on this lineage.

Robert lives in the Liverpool area and is willing to try and help anyone researching the Dobie name.
He has been researching his family for about five years, and so far knows that his great grandfather was Watson Dobie
who by trade was a stone mason, born in 1860 in Liverpool and died in
1929. Watson's father was Robert Dobie who was born circa 1832 and was a
baker, possibly died circa 1862. Robert's father was also called Robert, and his wife's maiden name
was Isabella Boreland (married 16th November 1818). His father was George Dobie who married Agnes Johnston
in 1794 in Kirkbean, Kirkudbright, Scotland. George`s parents were William Dobie and
Jean Dalglish.

Her line is John Dobbie, son of William and Janet, born at St Quivox, Ayreshire Scotland in 1822.
He migrated to Australia 1841 per Earl Gray, married Elizabeth Thomson in 1843
at Bathurst, Australia.
