JESSE9 BRENNEMAN (JACOB8, DANIEL7, BENJAMIN6, CHRISTIAN5, CHRISTIAN4, MELCHIOR3, NICLAUS 2, PETER1 ) was born November 7, 1876 in York, Pennsylvania, and died September 11, 1958 in Buried in Nichols, Muscatine, Iowa. He married ELSIE MAY HOUSER February 10, 1895 in York, Pennsylvania, daughter of WILLIAM HOUSER and EMELINA STUMP.

 Notes for JESSE BRENNEMAN:

Jesse and Elsie knew each other as young children and eventually married, he 18, she 16. They lived in York, Pennsylvania and 11 of their 12 children were born there. Jesse worked in a lime Kill and in a furniture factory. He later made most of their own furniture. At one time he worked building barracks for soldiers entering W.W.I. He became restless and packed his 11 children and Elsie and all their belongings on a train and moved to Iowa to farm corn following his brother Daniel there. It was hard going and the older children wanted to return to Pennsylvania, so after a couple of years they went back to York. There he started a butcher shop business. They lived on 5 acres and raised rabbits and squab and sold them at the market. He became restless again and returned to Iowa, and this time succeeded in his dream to be a corn farmer. He built a house and barns and farmed 60 acres, plowing the fields with horse and plow. He loved his canaries and his pipe, and an occasional cigar. Jesse was a quiet and kind man, taking pride in his beautifully groomed farm. In his later years he always carried a cane, Elsie always said, his knees were injured during the time he worked in the lime kill. Elsie worked hard feeding up to 60 threshers from neighboring farms. She had a beautiful rock garden, with rocks from all over the country. She also enjoyed making rag dolls and collecting salt and pepper shakers. She died of a stroke in 1958, Jesse died of natural causes a few months later.
