Russell Family of Marblehead

Roger/1 Russell, origins unknown, was b. about 1605 (“a. abt. 60, dep. Nov., 1665, Vol. 11, p.29” - Marblehead Vital Records, p.41). His will, dated 25 May 1687, Marblehead, mentions children, Richard, Samuel, Miriam Hanniford, Elizabeth Knight, and Elizabeth Woodley “widow in a sickley condition”, and her child, and Henry Russell, “his eldest son who is deceased”. His two sons Richard Russell and Samuel Russell were appointed his executors and the witnesses were Samuel Cheever, John Hooper, and Edward Holman, Probate 14 Dec. 1687. Inventory taken by Nathaniel Newton and John Hooper 24 June 1687, amounting to 49 pounds, 12s 6d, ret'd. 14 Dec. 1687. (Collections of the Essex Institute). His wife's name was Elizabeth, surname unknown.
