General Information
From any point in Ennis, Co. Clare, you will be able to see the Franciscan Monastery, which towers over the town. As with many buildings of this type, it was the hub of activity in its day--and a
constant reminder of the importance of religion in the social, political and economic life in rural Ireland. Throughout the countryside, you can often find a steeple on the horizon.
