Biographical Information
Dr. Louis Cullinan was born in Saint John, New Brunswick on December 22, 1921. After high school, he went to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where he obtained a degree in
Medicine. He is pictured here with his wife, Rita I. (néMcCloskey) Cullinan, whom he married on February 7, 1948. In 1958, he began his residency at Montreal General Hospital, then in 1961 completed his studies in anaesthesiology at the
Ottawa Civic Hospital, where he later worked as an anaesthetist. The 'Dr. L.V. Cullinan Memorial Anaesthesiology Library' now houses several hundred books and is an important resource for the Ontario Heart Clinic at the Civic Hospital, a unit which
has gained world-wide attention as a premier hospital for the treatment and prevention of heart disease.
