Biographical Information
John E. Cullinan was known as 'Swipes' Cullinan on account of his proficiency in baseball when he was a boy in Oswego, New York. He was the son of Patrick J. Cullinan (1848-1913) and Mary Jane
Murphy (1859-1910). Patrick Cullinan was born in County Clare, Ireland and was an undertaker for many years, operating a funeral parlour in Oswego under the name P.J. Cullinan's Sons. The family is still engaged in the funeral business.
John E. Cullinan married Cora Helen Meagher (1888-1985) in 1914 at Oswego. They had two children, John E. Cullinan, Jr. and Miriam Ellen Cullinan.
