Biographical Information
Daniel J. Cullinan emigrated from Ennis, County Clare, Ireland in 1867 and settled in Napoleon, Ohio. He was married in Cleveland in 1875 to Mary Kennedy (1855-1945). Only a years later, the
couple moved to Australia and spent eight years at a gold mine, near Gympie, Queensland with his brother John. Once there, the two brothers were joined by some of their younger siblings, namely Mary Anne Cullinan (1844-1886), Catherine Cullinan
(1847-), Thomas Henry Cullinan (1858-1924) and Ellen Josephine Cullinan (1860-). The sisters and the younger brother were all married in Australia, either in Toowoomba (near Brisbane) or at Gympie. John decided to stay in Australia. Daniel and Mary
Cullinan returned to the states, having amassed some wealth, and began a business called 'The Western Foundries'. They had ten children.
In this photograph are Daniel A. Cullinan (1886-1970) and his sister,
Mary Cullinan (1884-1952). To the right are their parents, Daniel J. Cullinan (1852-1930) and Mary
(née Kennedy) Cullinan (1855-1945).
Daniel J. Cullinan's descendents now live in Illinois,
Connecticut, Wisconsin and California.
There are now several families of Cullinans in the State of Queensland who can trace their ancestry to Daniel J. Cullinan's siblings.
