Plate LXXIX - Ancestry of Patrick Joseph Cullinan (-1923) of Carrollstown, Co. Meath, Ireland

  1. Patrick Joseph Cullinan (-1923) married the oldest daughter of P. Dunne. Cullinan a well-known Irish horse owner and breeder and until 1923, lived in Carrollstown, Co. Meath, Ireland. "He won 29 races in Ireland this year, and finished fifth on the winning Irish owner’s list. One of his best winners was Tom Crow, a steeplechaser, now owned by Lord Queensborough, and trained by Gore at Findon. Among the many good horses bred at Carrollstown was Ascetic Silver, who won the Grand National in 1906. The horse was bred by Mr. P. Dunne, whose only daughter Mr. Cullinan married. When he won the Grand National, starting at 20 to 1 against, Ascetic’s Silver was owned by the late Prince Hatzfeldt, and was trained and ridden by the Hon. Aubrey Hastings" (-London Times).
  2. The Irish Ancestry Guild claimed that Sir Thomas Major Cullinan (1862-1936) was related to this particular Family, however I have not been able to find any similarities in the families. The Guild also stated that P. Dunne Cullinan owned
