Sources:
  1. "Mini-Census" and correspondence from Mary Ellen (Cullinane) Symons of Kalamazoo, Michigan dated March 11, 1993.
  2. Letter from Mrs. Kathryn (née Cullinan) Seggerson of Dunwoody, Georgia 30338 dated December 15, 1995.
  3. Conversation with Rev. Eugene Cullinane, Madonna House, Cumbermere, Ontario.
  4. US Social Security Records.
  5. University of Notre Dame Archives (Student Records).

Comments:

  1. Social Security Records list a Bernard Cullinane (b December 26, 1920, Michigan; d March, 1966). Date of birth and death in the Social Security Records would be incorrect.
  2. In the 1980s and early 1990s, Rev. Eugene Cullinane (1907-) lived at Madonna House, Combermere, Ontario, Canada.
  3. Mrs. Seggerson notes, "After reading Patrick Cullinane’s letter, we searched for Cullinanes in Dowagiac, Michigan. I copied the names from the headstones in the two cemeteries I found. This is a copy of the names and dates I came up with--some or all of these people, probably the ‘2nd cousins’ referred to by Patrick. J. Cullinane." There is therefore, a connection between this family of Dowagiac, Michigan and Mrs. Seggerson’s family (Plate LXIX).
  4. Mrs. Seggerson enclosed the following cemetery transcripts:
Group 1. Holy Matrimony of Mary Church, Dowagiac Cemetery, Dowagiac, Michigan: Charles Cullinane, died Jan 1899; Johanna Cullinane, died 1878.
Group 2. Sacred Heart of Mary Cemetery, Silver Creek Township, Cass County, Michigan: Denis Cullinane 1821-1884, Hannorah Cullinane 1831-1883. Two children, Mary 1862-1886 and Norah 1871-1895.
Group 3. (Same Cemetery): Flat stones near main monument, Margaret Cullinane 1860-1913, Michael M. Cullinane 1863-1935. The following three all served in the Army in World War II: Bernard J. Cullinane 1912-1966, Patrick M. Cullinane 1910-1986 and Robert E. Cullinane 12-22-24 to 8-10-48.
The following is a list of names, numbered from 1 to 10, refering to their placement in front of the main monument: John 1856-1943, Dennis 1855-1928, Tim 1864-1926, Bridget 1822-1904 mother, Daniel 1819-1901 father, a grandson of Robert 1950-1991, Gertrude Hanna Cullinane 1891-1971 married Jas. Robt. Cullinane 1898-1942, Mary Carmody Cullinane 1859-1931 and Michael D. Cullinane 1858-1937. The fourth and last item, same cemetery, has a monument in principal, single stone at right, then to the right again, two rows extending to the right with three and four stones respectively.
