Mrs. R. Cullinan, Claregalway

It is with feelings of deep regret we announce the death of Mrs. Rebecca Cullinan, relict of the late Patrick Cullinan, of Carrowkeel, Claregalway, which occurred on December 23, 1934. Deceased was a very charitable lady and died a holy and peaceful death. She belonged to one of the oldest and most highly respected families in Co. Galway. She was second daughter of the late Mr. Tobias Laffey, of Ballylacken House, Headford, and grand-daughter of the late Belinda Brown of Claran Park, Headford, and also grand-daughter of the late Jeremiah Pettie, of Clover Park. She was a cousin of the late Rev. John Dooley, Adm., St. Joseph's, Rahoon, and the late Rev. Mother Aloysius, Presentation Convent, Galway. She was the aunt of the Rev. J.V. Leonard, Provincial of the Marist Order; aunt-in-law of the Rev. John J. Cullinan, Nazareth Hall, St. Paul, Chaplain to the American Forces during the great European War.

Several of her nieces consecreated their lives to God, some of whom are now labouring on the mission field in foreign lands.

A Friend's Tribute

We laid her in the clay on a peaceful Christmas Day

When Heaven's Gates were open for all who passed away.

Rebecca, good and true, it was you that took the sway

From historic Headford town to the shores of Galway Bay.

I refer to generosity as your equals were but few,

I wish that many more were just the same as you.

But on earth we'll meet no more, till the day we will arise,

Adieu to dear Rebecca till we meet beyond the skies.

R.I.P.
