Obituary: Dr. Charles R. Cullinane of Buffalo, New YorkDeath Takes Physician
Dr. Cullinane,
was known as poor man's friend
Dr. Charles R. Cullinane, 58 years old, one of the best known and most highly
respected physicians in Buffalo, died Sunday morning at his home, 77 Woodward avenue. Dr. Cullinane was born at
Watkins, in 1869. He attended the Starkey seminary, and after finishing there entered the medical school of the
University of Buffalo, from which he was graduated in 1896.
After graduation he entered the the medical
profession, and for the last 30 years he had been a general practitioner at his office, 180 Seneca street.
He was
known as the poor man's friend, and during his professional career he never refused to give medical aid to those
who needed it, but were unable to pay. He had an extensive practice.
Prominent in his profession, Dr. Cullinane
was connected with several medical organizations. He was the consultation staff of the German Deaconess Hospital,
a member of the Erie County Medical Society and the New York State Medical Society, and the Academy of Medicine.
He was a prominent member of the following lodges: Lodge of the Ancient Landmarks, Redmen, Maccabees, Hugh de
Payens Commandery and Chapter and Ismailia Temple.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ethel Cullinane. Funeral
services will be held from the home at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. Charles H. Smith of Saint James
Episcopal Church will officiate. Burial will be in Elmlawn cemetery.
