Deaths: Patrick Joseph Cullinan of Carrollstown, Co. Meath, Ireland

Death of Well-Known Irish Owner and Breeder

The death took place yesterday at his residence, Carrollstown, Co. Meath, of the well-known breeder and owner, Mr. P.J. Cullinan, after a short illness.

He won 29 races in Ireland this year, and finished fifth on the winning Irish owner's list. One of his best winners was Tom Crow, a steeplechaser, now owned by Lord Queensborough, and trained by Gore at Findon. Among the many good horses bred at Carrollstown was Ascetic Silver, who won the Grand National in 1906. The horse was bred by Mr. P. Dunne, whose only daughter Mr. Cullinan married. When he won the Grand National, starting at 20 to 1 against, Ascetic's Silver was owned by the late Prince Hatzfeldt, and was trained and ridden by the Hon. Aubrey Hastings.
