Paid Their Last Tribute

Obsequies of Former Chief Detective of Montreal

Large was the number of those who paid their last tribute of respect to the memory of Mr. Andrew Cullinan yesterday morning by attending his obsequies. the cortege which was headed by a squad of fifty police under the command of Captain Fennell and Lieutenant Murphy of the family residence, 68 Colborne Street at 8.30 proceeded to Saint Ann Church where a Mass of solemn requiem was sung and thence to Côte-des-Neiges. At the church the remains were received by Rev. Father Rioux and Rev. Father Cullinan, son of the deceased, was the celebrant of the Mass, with Reverend Father Shea of Saint Anthony's Church as Deacon and Reverend Father Bourassa of Saint Bernard Church as Sub-Deacon. Among the clergy who occupied seats of the sanctuary were Rev. Father Kiernan of Saint Michael's Parish, Rev. Father Faudrouge of Lachine and Rev. Fathers McPhail and O'Flynn of Saint Ann's Parish, Rev. Father Donnelly, Saint Anthony's Parish, Rev. Father Killoran, Saint Patrick's Parish, Rev. Father Freedy, Rev. Father McDonald, Rev. Father Prudent, director of the Christian Brothers. While the Libera was chanted left the clegy left the sanctuary and stood around the catafalque which was brilliantly lighted with candles and while the remains were being born from the Church, "Nearer My God To Thee" was sung.

The chief mourners were Rev. Father Cullinan, Messrs. W.P., P.J. and J.J. Cullinan, sons, J. Shea and Charles McKinley, sons-in-law, M. Bermingham and P.J. Ryan. Of all those who followed the remains were Judge Lafontaine, Police Kehoe, Inspectors Leggett and Lamouche, Chief Detectives of the Silis, Detectives O'Keefe, McLaughlin and Gallagher, Riopel, Samson and Leger, Lt.
