BARD FAMILY DNA

FamilyTree DNA
"Y" Test Results Example

Here is part of what FamilyTreeDNA.com sends out (along with some other information that helps the individual understand their results) when a person joins the group by paying the $99 fee and submitting the "Y" DNA group test kit. Although there is some disagreement concerning mutation rate over the generations (revealed by changed loci), theoretically my loci data shown below  (I.E.: 13, 25, 15, 11, 11, 14, 12, 12, 10, 12, 11, 29) should be very close to another male Bard in Archibald (Beard) BARD's line and possibly even more closely so in comparison to those in original Richard BARD's Line.

With strong samples from this and other presumably related lines we can come to some probability conclusions concerning common ancestors with other, even more diverse and distant lines.

When you think about it, this is the best way to do genealogy research, as it is more exacting, and doesn't involve some of the biases and inaccuracies that traditional genealogy research does.

Of course, any data such as this is not normally shown with a name, only with a code or kit number (see the donor page), but I have shown mine this way as an example of how things work and what a person ordering the test can expect.

Note: These simple 12 loci are not by any means a total individual's DNA signature, and cannot therefore, specifically identify any individual.
