V 2.2
ANNOUNCING - Version 1.0 of THE BARD FAMILY - on CD-ROM:
The Bard Family Web page is proud to announce the long awaited and much anticipated Bard event of the year...
THE BARD FAMILY book by G. O. Seilhamer... is now available on CD-ROM!
After months of painstaking work, we have finally finished scanning, OCRing, and converting to the Portable Document Format (PDF), our treasured 1908 original "Bard Book." It took literally hundreds of hours to proof and edit the text and substitute fonts, to give the CD-ROM electronic book the cherished look and "feel" of the original.
The PDF format is quickly becoming the industry standard for the conversion of paper books to CD-ROM and Web media. It offers text and graphic reproduction; full text search; Web browser (w/plug-in) compatibility; and excellent print capability. It certainly comes in handy while doing research to be able to easily search in the entire book for a date, name, city, etc.
It also allows for internal and external links; multimedia movies, sounds, and music; Web links; copy & paste of text information; the use of a table of contents and thumbnails for better navigation and visual searching; magnification of text; and a full-screen mode for better viewing.
The FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF viewers and plug-ins are included on the CD, and the latest updates are available at: http://www.adobe.com
The BARD FAMILY CD-ROM is of the hybrid (cross-platform) variety; The PDF files are usable on MAC, PC, UNIX, etc., and are WIN 95, WIN 98, MAC 68k, and PowerMAC tested & compatible, and are Web viewable.
They ship in a protective jewel case, but they can also be stored in their protective see-through envelope, in the back of a book. It is said that these CD-ROM discs, with proper care, will last well over 100 years. They can also be easily and inexpensively sent through the mail as gifts.
We feel that at the low introductory price of only $9.95 + $2.00 S&H, anyone and everyone who ever wanted to own this veritable fount of BARD, BEARD, and BAIRD genealogy information, will find it well within their financial reach to do so. We think you'll have to agree that this is an excellent value considering the fact that the original hard bound books and facsimile reprints are routinely found to be considerably more expensive. This price will be good during the introductory period only, so please don't wait too long to purchase.
Included on each of these introductory CD-ROMs you will find various relevant Web links, a digital reproduction of a hand-written letter sent and signed by Senator Thomas Robert Bard (who commissioned THE BARD FAMILY book) presenting original Bard Book #74 to Thomas Henderson Bard; another letter written several years before TRB's death in 1915; and a digital reproduction of the Elizabeth Bard Memorial Hospital, taken several years after the opening of the hospital and the death of it's first patient, Dr. Cephas Little Bard (brother of the Senator) in 1902. The brothers worked together to complete and dedicate the hospital in memory of their mother.
We have even included a second title; The BARD-Gutenberg Project Bible, a fully searchable PDF e-text document, FREE;... AND...... also a SECRET GIFT link (that we can not reveal because of copyright restrictions), to help make this a great offer that you just can't refuse.
You can preview an on-line PDF example of THE BARD FAMILY book's actual full index here on this page:

We now have a NEW (and very preliminary) GEDCOM HTML site that allows interested parties to view our BARD family and related genealogies on-line. This site represents only a small part of the 1st son Richard BARD genealogy, and an even smaller part of the total genealogy that we hope to make available sometime in the future:
SURNAME Index of
HTML
Chart #1
Descendants of Richard BARD + Catharine POE
(1st son of Archibald BEARD (BARD) of the Bards of "Carroll's
Delight")
Well, It's been awhile since we last made direct entry here on the Web page, but we've been involved in other projects, including the new GEDCOM file now available from the main genealogy menu page. This file is downloadable and is in a "zipped" compression format, for both the PC and MAC formats. More details are available on the; Bard Family GEDCOM Page. We've also been busy instituting our new automatically formatted data submission pages, such as the above What's New submission page link. These automatically formatted HTML pages allow page visitors to post various types of relevant information immediately, instead of waiting for someone to format the info manually and then upload it at some future date. If interested parties need to discuss something not covered by one of the automatic submission pages, they can still contact a Pagemaster, or a Webmaster via e-mail. Sooo...
Check out our NEW AUTOMATIC PAGES for the LATEST skinny:
Main Page Guestbook; What's New; Genealogy Queries; and; Bard Trivia
You'll also find some e-mail queries from various Bards/Beards/Bairds on the E-mail Archive Page, but as stated above, the really new submissions are to be found on the automatic submission pages. If you see a connection to us "Bards of Carroll's Delight," please let us know; and if you have any info that may help us or someone else in their search, please make contact.
Another piece of good news is that Richard Albert Bard of Miami, FL has recently taken a very active role in the pursuit of Bard Family genealogy information, and has begun a Bard Family Summary which he uses to update his computer genealogy data. If you wish to share and swap Bard info with him you can contact him via e-mail at: RichBard@aol.com he is a descendant of the Bard's of "Carroll's Delight" through Archibald's first son Richard Bard, to Judge Archibald Bard, to Isaac Bard, to David Humphrey Bard, to his father Asher Humphrey Bard. He has two children: Marsha Rochelle Bard and Ryan Thomas Bard and he owns an original copy of the Bard Book.
We recently have received a new shipment in of the all time favorite genealogy reprint; the Bard Family "Bard Book" (blue binding with gold lettering). We now have a Bard Book Registry to record and assign book numbers, and help keep track of these important repositories of our family history. So if you're interested in purchasing one or more (@$59.95+$3.00 S&H), you know what to do!: Order.
Hello all:
I attended the Bard family reunion in Bardstown Kentucky July 19th & 20th, 1996.
(Bardstown is best known for The Stephen Foster story and it's ties to the state song
"My Old Kentucky Home")
My family and I had a GREAT time, we were made to feel very welcome and quite at
home. I met many people and hopefully made some lasting friends.
Special thanks to Kathy Garrison and Rich Allen and all involved as they are
doing a great job.
We have already exchanged some documents and info, and as I mentioned at the
picnic my brother Curt and I will do our best to help in their search for information
concerning their ancestry. We are already looking forward to the next reunion in two
years.
