Nine Generations of the Bards of "Carroll's
Delight"
V 1.0
Archibald Beard (or Bard), who "was the son of David, which was the son of William," was most likely of Scottish ancestry and was probably born in County Antrim, Ireland, emigrated to Newcastle County, Delaware, in the 1700s. In 1741 he purchased land known as "Carroll's Delight" from Daniel Carroll, who had obtained his land in a grant from Lord Baltimore. The property was located in Adams County, Pennsylvania, not far from Gettysburg. Although the date of his birth is lost to history, he died in February 1765. He and his wife, her name unknown, had four children: Richard Bard , William Bard, ______ Bard, a daughter, and David Bard.
