Fred, 2nd child and 2nd son of William and Anne CAWTHORN, was born 19 October 1860 in Upwell, Cambs.
He married Mary Jane PHILLIPS, daughter of Henry WEST & Jane PHILLIPS, at the Parish Church,
Fridaybridge, nr Wisbech, Cambs on 25 October 1882.

Fred & Mary Jane's married daughter, Ethel Ann MORRIS, with her husband and children also emigrated to Australia
soon afterwards in late 1912.
Fred [Jnr]'s wife, Louisa and children, Guy & Neil, sailed out on the "Port Macquarie", arriving in April 1914.

I have just found that a Fred CAWTHORN was landlord of the "Three Tuns" Public House in the village of Doddington,
which isn't far from Chatteris - but this was in 1912!

Fred died 11 February 1946 in Sale, Victoria, Australia.
Mary Jane died 7 July 1950, also in Sale, Victoria, Australia.

As Fred's Death Registration also gave the names of his parents - William CAWTHORN & Anne TROWER
- my first real breakthrough in trying to prove the link between Bethel and myself.
