Their third child, John Wesley, is born on August 2, 1832 in Cable County, Virginia.

Their fourth child, Adam Clarke, is born on March 14, 1834 in Wheeling, Virginia, now West Virginia.

In 1835 the family traveled to St. Louis, Missouri to live. It is thought that John taught school there and in the Alton Illinois area.
