Web Database This is the link to the Varns in my "Cathcart
Family Tree (jcath)" genealogy file submitted to RootsWeb.
This GEDCOM database is frequently updated.
- Genealogy
Report: Descendants of Jacob Varn. My original tree seems
solid back until Jacob Varn (b. C. 1748). At this point there
are two Jacob & Mary Varns listed in various documents.

- Journal
(Diary) of Janie Lawton Varn: Transcribed by John V. Cathcart from
six volumes of a journal kept throughout the life of Jane
"Janie" Lawton Varn. From the first entry on March 19,
1886 to her last entry May 2, 1955, you get a wonderful insight into
the life and times of this incredible woman.
- Varn
Website: This link brings you to another website (by Edward
Breland) that traces the Varn family back through the early
1600s. This is the source of most of my Varn data above.

Subject: Mary Cathcart: John Cathcart/ Hugh McQuiston/ Prof. Wilson
Date: Tue, 20 Jun 2000 10:14:20 -0500
Bloomington (IN) Republican Progress, Jan 26, 1887, p. 3.
On Wednesday night last, Mrs. Mary Cathcart, mother of the late John
Cathcart, died at her residence on West 7th Street, after an illness of
several months. Mrs. Cathcart was seventy-three years of age on the day of
her death. She was respected and beloved by all who knew her, for
Christian character and amiable disposition. Her daughters, the wives of
Hugh McQuiston and Prof. Wilson of Monmouth, Ills., were with her several
weeks previous to her death, but were compelled by sickness in their
families to return home, so were not able to be at her bedside when she
died.
