He married Ellen Burk in Rising Sun, Polk, IA, 26 Jul 1855. Ellen was born 12 Apr 1837. Ellen died 27 Aug 1929 at 92 years of age. Wilson's Civil War records show an enlistment of 13 Aug 1862 in Company D 34Th Infantry Iowa Volunteers and a muster out date of 26 Jun 1865 in Mobile Alabama.
