John Collins Robey to his Daughter, Fidelia Frances Robey King, 1889

Note: This letter was written by John Collins Robey to his daughter, Fidelia Frances "Fannie" Robey King and her family. Fidelia Frances was John's only surviving of four daughters from his first marriage to Mariah Waite. She was living in Texas, probably in or near Austin, and John Collins Robey was living in Scioto County, Ohio. He had journeyed Scioto County, Ohio, his birthplace, about 1870, possibly to visit friends and family there. There he met and married his second wife, a widow named Mrs. Angeline Brouse, on 14 February, 1871. They had three children together. J.C. Robey continued to live and farm in Scioto County, near the town of Sugar Loaf, until his death in 1906. He is a son of William and Mary Collins Robey. I have sought to preserve the original spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
