Dear JA, Fannie & Family
I drop a few lines to let you know we are all Spaired yet Walter got the Mumps at last. He worked hard last Friday was feeling bad with head-ache (at night_ was sick Saturday was right bad, but by Sunday noon got better. The main trouble now is to keep him in so as not to take cold. Last week was a nice Spring-like one. The first whole week we had yet we were engaged in hauling out Stone on the road. Did not get quite done Monday Morning was cloudy. Willie & I went into the garden cleaned off and went to plowing for early vegetables and Potatoes, but the rain came and drove us out and continued the balance of the day * the Sun has now shown its Self yet. It's nearly 7 A.M. it may rain again.
Today I have to take a Calf to town this Morning So I Seeze the opportunity of Sending a few lines that you may know how we are. I am Stil able to make a ful hand at table, trim the grape vines, Set out Some Peach trees, go to Town Some Times on foot when the horses are in use but mostly get to ride back with some neighbor. I had a letter dated about the Same Time as your last from your Uncle Levi. The Kin folk up there were all well but your Uncle Asa died last Nov. He had been complaining for a good while but Started to go to Lena some five miles with a load of oats. Wanted to get a stove for the Parlor when about half way was taken bad near a house wheare he got in with difaculty. They got him home but he died Sunday afternoon. He was a Stout appearing man when I Saw him last. Levi and Almira were in quite good health. Wel I had to Stop to Weigh a little hay to the boss on the Road work. I must get off to town pretty Soon So I must Stop writing. I know of nothing more anyway worth while So I hope this may find all well and Prosperous. Give my love to [Be?] and Sister John and Lizzie and Willie and Bill and all my kinfolk keeping your own Portion out. Verry Truly Yours as Ever,
