WILLIAM ROBEY DEEDS
This indenture of bargain & sale made this 3'd day of June in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Nine (1799) between Thomas Parker and Sarah his wife of the County of Frederick and State of Virginia of the one part and WILLIAM ROBY of the county of Adams in the Territory northwest of the Ohio River of the other part witnesseth
That the said Thomas Parker and Sarah his wife for and in consideration of fifty one dollars of lawful money in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby duly acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, alien and confirm unto the said WILLIAM ROBY his heirs and assigns forever a certain Lott of Land in the town of ALEXANDRIA designated and known in the plan of said town by No 16, leading on Ohio Street five poles and extending back ten poles containing fifty square poles.
And the said Thomas Parker & Sarah his wife for themselves, their heirs, executors and administrate the said lott of land together with all its appurtenances unto the said WILLIAM ROBY and his assigns , do and forever will warrant and defend by these presents against the claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever. In witness whereof, I, Alexander Parker being duly authorized by a power of Attorney the 3d (or 30th) day of March last and recorded in the County of Frederick in the state of Virginia.................have caused the names of said Thomas Parker and Sarah his wife to be signed and their seals affixed the day and year above written.

Came before me Mr. Belli, one of the justices of Common Pleas General Sessions for Adams County, Alexander Parker attorney in fact and power of attorney dated the 30th of March last for Thomas Parker and Sarah Parker his wife acknowledged the within signing & sealing.................and deed.................for the purposes herein mentioned. In witness whereof I attest this present under my hand and seal in the county aforesaid this 3'd day of June AD 1799

Know all men by these presents that I WILLIAM ROBY of the county of WINNEBAGO and State of Illinois am hereby held and firmly bound with William Lucas of Scioto County and State of Ohio in the Penal Sum of Five hundred dollars lawful money of the United States will and truly to be paid to him his heirs, executors, or assigns for the well and faithful performance of which I bind myself, my heirs, executors administrators and assigns___Witness my hand and seal at the place aforesaid this 6th day of April, AD 1837.
The conditions of the above obligation is such that if the said WILLIAM ROBY his heirs executors, administrators or assigns shall execute unto the said William Lucas a good and sufficient warranty deed with release of dower (or to his heirs or assigns) for all that certain piece of parcel of land lying and being in the Territory of Wisconsin and known and described as a forty acre lot bounded on the east and northwest by lands entered by said Lucas south by Chilton in Town 1, Range 7 east and being the same entered by said Roby at the land office at Mineral Point in Wisconsin Territory.
For which the said WILLIAM ROBY acknowledges he has received forty dollars cash in hand paid to his full satisfaction; which deed of conveyance shall be made and executed upon the demand of the said Lucas, his heirs or assigns; then this obligation to be null and void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.

1840 March 5
Being this day called upon by Mr. J.C. Robey to make a statement respecting a claim line that was agreed to between Benjamin Godard, William Robey and myself. Which line was to commence on the Range Line dividing between R 7 and 8 where Godard's spring branch crossed the line, thence running eastward to the spring, taking an equal portion of the branch on either side of the line; thence from the Spring on East until it reaches the eastern boundary of the Quarter section. The aforesaid Benjamin Godard to hold from the above described line southward on to quarter section.

Know all men by these presents that I, WILLIAM ROBEY of the County of Stephenson and State of Illinois in consideration of Seven Hundred Dollars, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have remained, released and forever quitclaimed unto John C. Robey his heirs and assigns forever a Claim on Congress Land lying and being in the County of Stephenson and State of Illinois in R.7 [E] T.27,--the south half of Section 12, and also the west half of the northeast quarter of Section 11, Range and Town aforesaid. To have and to hold the same together with the privileges and appurtenances belonging or in anywise appertaining to him the said JOHN C. ROBEY, his heirs and assigns forever. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 27th day of December, A.D. 1837.

Pension Note
Note: William Robey was almost 94 when he received this communication. It probably refers to a pension for his role in the War of 1812. R. Campbell, Ed.
1871--June 13, Austin. WM. Roby, Esq. We have just received your note through the politeness of Mr. Denison & truly glad to hear from you. We have not heard from Gen'l Rice of Washington City, but expect to hear from him soon in regard to your pension. Will inform you, rely upon it.
