This site reports on the state of research by Ronald Rodger CASEBY as at 19/04/2000 into the descentants of Edward CASEBY who was born in Gloucestershire or Huntingdonshire, England around 1640. His son, Edward CASEBY (aka CASBEY, CASBY, KEASBY and KEASBEY), appeared at John Fenwick's Quaker Colony in the mid-1690's, near to what is now Salem City, Salem, New Jersey, USA. Edward married, had four children and died whilst the children were young, as did his wife. Four Quaker families adopted the two boys and two girls. The Alloway,s Creek Quaker Monthly Meeting Minutes for the period show that from about 1700 Edward, his adopted children, and their offspring were re-surnamed KEASBY and/or KEASBEY. For about three generations his descendants decreasingly continued to use their correct surname of CASEBY on Wills and in official documents such as Divorce papers. Any information about the first Edward CASEBY and his spouse and ancestors from England would be much appreciated.
