IN MEMORY OF OUR DEAR GRAND MOTHER EMERENCE ADOLPH

By her grand-daughter Martha Maroonett

Oh dearest husband and children do not weep
When you see that I must go,
For 'tis Christ that is calling me
From this sinful world of woe.

I do not like to see those tears
That are rolling down your face,
But cast your mind on God above
For soon my steps you'll trace.

My dearest children I must go
I leave you in father's care,
I'll not be here with you any more
Your joys and sorrows to share.

Oh must I go and leave you all
I gasp for breath so weak,
And I must close my eyes in death
I can no longer speak.

I now have crossed death's chilling stream
And must travel all alone,
I've only opened up the way
We'll soon all meet at home.

You lay my body in the grave
And think I'm there at rest,
But ah, alas! I am not there,
I'm resting with the blest.

The body that lies in the grave
Is only flesh and bone,
My soul and spirit are there no more,
They've fled away and gone.

At home the vacant place you see
Where e'er that I have trod,
Weep not for me for I have gone.
To make my home with God.

If you could only see me now
How happy I am here,
You'd no more wish me in that world
Where sin is always near.

I see my little children here
That came ahead of me
They are with Jesus and the angels
And are happy as can be.

Oh dear husband and loving children
Be prepared to follow me,
For Christ will come and quickly too
And take you where you wish to be.

Then together we all shall be
With one Saviour we can reign,
I now will say to all good bye
Until we all can meet again.
