In Sydney, we are blessed with
some wonderful waterways including the harbour at Port Jackson, the Parramatta
River and the Hawkesbury River, all easily accessible and usually with adequate
launching facilities.
The club just sort of grew from the
acquisition of a boat, to the replacement of the outboard, to extending an
invitation to some old mates to go fishing. We avoid the ramp rage that has
sadly become characteristic of weekends on the boat ramps and set off almost
exclusively on weekdays. This means of course that we are all retired and can
spend our days in relative peace. Our wives believe that we are performing some
sort of Secret Mens' Business and they're right; there is no place for women all
day on a boat without toilets. Bladder control is practised with Zen-like
calmness and anyway, there are always the buckets.
