Death of Mrs. Schepers
from the Shelton Clipper, October 14, 1899

Mrs. Catherine Schepers died last Monday morning at her home about 5 miles northwest of Shelton, after an illness of thirty-five days. The funeral was held at the Methodist church Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, and was largely attended by her many sorrowing friends. The services were conducted by Rev. Samuel Blair, after which the remains were interred in the Shelton cemetery.

The deceased was born in Illinois in the year 1854, where she lived until she removed in 1886 to this state and took up her residence in Buffalo County, where she has resided until she was called home to spend eternity with the Lord, whom she served and in whose service she found so much joy. She lived 45 years, 10 months, and 15 days upon the earth, and the light of judgement alone will reveal what she was enabled to accomplish for her Master during this short time. She was converted in the year 1894 and joined the United Bretheren church, of which she was still a member at the time of her death. She was active in all lines of church work, and will be greatly missed not alone by the bereaved relatives, but her church, and the neighborhood in which she lived will mourn the loss of so valiant a christian worker and faithful, sympathetic neighbor.

About twenty years ago she was united in marriage to Hermann Schepers, and to this union six children were born, five of whom are still living, who, with the bereaved husband, six sister and two brothers now survive her.

They have the sympathy of all in their affliction.
