Georgia Anna's grave is marked with only a couple
of rocks. One at the head and one at the foot. Her husband Wiley Barnes Roberts is buried to the right of her inside the brick enclosure. Georgia Anna died when she was about 22 years old leaving a husband and three young children, the youngest being only 2 1/2 months old. Within ten months of her death Wiley married Susie Temperance May. The descendants of this marriage had markers put on the graves of Wiley and Susie. It saddens me to see Georgia Anna left out of this gravesite.
On the day that I visited the cemetery there was a
strange dampness on the gravel covering Wiley's grave. It was early morning and the sun was shining. There were no shadows on the grave to cause it not to have dried out. Susie's grave was dry. With a granddaughter's heart I have decided that the dampness was caused by Wiley's tears over the sadness of his beloved first wife being left out.
Georgia Anna is the mother of my great grandfather
James Jacob Roberts. |
