Cruger Kaple, Lewis Kaple, and Murial Kaple
Brothers Cruger, Lewis, and Murial Kaple were among at least 11 surviving
children born to Luther F. Kaple and Abigail Ketchum. According to the
1870 census, Lewis was the oldest of the three (born January 18, 1850,
died September 20, 1927), followed by Cruger (born abt. 1856) and Murial
(born abt. 1858). Other siblings include Alonzo, Esther, Henriette,
Jerusha, Palina, William, Horatio (born abt. 1854), and Nettie (born
abt. 1857).
Different sources of information provide different spellings of Cruger
and Murial, such as Kruger and Merley. The handwriting on this photo
belongs to Lewis's granddaughter, F. Audrey Boag, which might reflect
a reliable source for the proper spelling of their names.
