Canvey Islanders have not
all stayed on Canvey.
Here are just a
few who have gone to other parts of the world but still have a spot in their
hearts for Canvey Island. If you would like to have your story and contact

Steve Mackie
My name is Steve Mackie and we lived on the Island until we
left for
Australia in 1970. I am one of seven children so I would love to hear from
anyone who remembers any of the Mackie's from Canvey Island. Some of the
family stayed in UK but several of us now live in Australia. When we come
back for holidays we always visit the Island
My name is now Jan Flawn, in my youth I attended C.I. school, leaving in December 1962, being just 15. My name then was Janice Thomas and I lived in Meadway, just behind the Casino. I was close friends with Hannah McCreadie who lived in a bungalow called the Ponderosa, with her Mother. We both went out with firemen based at Tilbury, called Barry and Keith. Keith drove a little blue Austin with a little flag attached to the ariel. I would dearly love to contact Hannah again, I understand she emigrated to Australia after marrying her fireman `Barry'. If anyone can help trace any of these people I would be most grateful.
After travelling the world with Husband no.1., I now live with Husband no.2., in Sth Bedfordshire, own and run a high dependancy nursing home in Milton Keynes.
I look forward to hearing from anyone who can help.
Regards Jan
