The Mono-rail

Part of Frederick Hester’s dream of Canvey as a holiday resort was the Mono-rail.

At first this was horse drawn, then electric. Notice the costume worn by the man on the left. Part of Hester’s holiday image was to emphasise the Dutch influence. The builders of the first sea walls.
