Canvey’s Coat of Arms

The coat of arms
was granted to the council in 1971.
At the top is the
Dutch Cottage. The sea wall is represented by the inner golden
escutcheon. The
inside is embattled to show the reinforcement.
The white wavy lines
on a blue background show the River Thames and the white droplets are related
to the salt extraction.
The green lozenge
shape is the island and the fat-tailed sheep and the oyster shells show the
past industry.
The coat of arms has now been adopted by Canvey’s Town Council
