Henry Shively and Margaret McCartney
Henry Shively was born on 28 May 1802 at Columbia Co., PA, son of Henry Shively and Elizabeth Green. He died on 05 March 1886. He married Margaret McCartney (b. 10 March 1804; d. 05 May 1879) in 1824. In 1827 they moved to Wayne Co., Ohio. In 1830 they moved to Summit Co., Middlebury twp. In 1834 they moved to Wood Co., Bowling Green twp. He filed for land on N 1/2 80 acres NE 1/4 Sec. 30 on 26 April 1834. In 1835 he helped build the South School house. In the early years, the Methodist congregation would gather at their house for when the pastor came every sixth Sunday.
“The Shively family occupied for some time a log cabin 12 x 14 feet, in what is now the southern part of the city. Mr. and Mrs. Shively bore the hardships of life in this new country most courageously, and lived to a good old age. Mr. Shively united with the Masonic order when he was twenty-one, and in later years was regarded as the father of the local society, his venerable but well-preserved form and flowing white whiskers making a striking figure in the place of honor in all processions and gatherings.” from the Commemorative Historical and Biographical Record of Wood Co., Ohio

iv. Lucinda Shively was born on 09 May 1833 at Middlebury twp., Summit Co., Ohio.
v. Alfred Shively was born on 09 September 1835 at Bowling Green twp., Wood Co., Ohio and was killed on 20 September 1863 at Chickamauga.
vi. Clay Shively was born on 15 January 1837 at Bowling Green twp., Wood Co., Ohio and died on 26 February 1890 at Papinsville, MO. He enlisted at Decatur, Illinois.
vii. Cynthia Shively was born on 15 September 1839 at Bowling Green twp., Wood Co., Ohio. She married Benton T. Emery (b. about 1838 in ME).
i. Eva Emery was born about 1865 in ME.
viii. Minerva Shively was born on 25 September 1842 at Bowling Green twp., Wood Co., Ohio. She married Cicero Venette of Bowling Green, Ohio.
ix. Alva Shively was born on 23 July 1845 at Bowling Green twp., Wood Co., Ohio.
x. Charles Morrison Shively was born on 18 August 1848 at Bowling Green twp., Wood Co., Ohio. He was a farmer in Center township. He married Fannie (b. about 1856 in Ohio). Children:
