      In 1842 Conrad Geis migrated to America from his native Bavaria.  Upon his arrival the Conrad Geis settled in Cambria County, Richland Township, there he purchased the farm of Squire Horner where resided until his death in 1876.   Soon after the arrival of the Geis family son Joseph laid out  "Geistown" which he named after his father.

      Geistown incorporated as a borough in January 1930.  In included land that had belonged to both Richland and Stonycreek Townships.
