Joe Ammann
On August 18, 1944 he wrote "When we came to Wisconsin there were many Indians in the woods. I went to school in two
log school houses. There were many deer and bears around in the woods when we came to Wisconsin. I was always afraid
to go to school through the woods on account of the Indians and bears."
He has received a good education in music from his father and played in the Kappelle des Kiel Musik Verein {Bend of
the Kiel Music Club} and the Arion Band. In 1879 he married Margaretha Stenson in Plymouth, Wisconsin. He had a
jewelry amd watch repair shop in Kiel and later in Marion, Wisconsin. After retiring, he moved to Los Angeles,
California where he died on August 29, 1946. He was cremated.
