Visits Old Home
The Times office received a pleasant call Tuesday from Oscar M. Crouch, of Portland, Oregon who is visiting the scene of his boyhood days in this vicinity. Mr. Crouch is a son of the late John crouch, who resided on a farm one mile and a half west of this city on the Bennett road, some years ago. Some twenty-two years ago he left here and located in Iowa, where he resided until six years and then moved to Oregon, where he has since made his home. For some years he has been engaged in mining and is one of the leading stockholders and officers of the Almeda Consolidated Mines Company which has one of the largest commercial ore bodies that has been developed in the state of Oregon. The mine is a gold-copper mine and is now having a large smelter erected. Mr. Crouch's old friends back in "Little Calumet" will be pleased to know that he is on the road to wealth. For the past two months he has been visiting relatives in the state of Ohio, and Kentucky. At Bowling Green, Ky., he visited his aunt, Mrs. Wm. Mahoney, formerly a resident of this city. He informed us that Mrs. Mohoney is enjoying good health and will likely move to Portland next spring to make her home.
