New Holstein school in 1904. Mariele Boockmeier is labeled and circled in the back row. She would have been about 12. The teacher is “M. Joyce.”

This school was across the road from the Woelfel farm. I was told that the kids whose parents worked at the Lime Kiln less than a mile away went to this school.
This is a predominantly Catholic area and most of the other kids would have gone to St. Martin's Catholic School in Charlestown.
It says New Holstein, because it is on a Rural New Holstein Postal Route.
