Daun Observes 91st Birthday Anniversary
Peter Daun of Charlesburg is observing his 91st birthday anniversary Thursday with visits from family.
Daun was born Jan 6, 1875 at Charlesburg, the son of the late John and Theresa (Steiner) Daun. He was married to
Susanna Winkel Nov 23, 1900, at Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, Marytown. She died Feb 21, 1941.
The Dauns farmed in the Town of Charlestown for 25 years until they moved to another farm east of Charlesburg which
Daun operated for 35 years. Daun moved to the village of Charlesburg 14 years ago to reside with his daughter Mrs.
Angela Hoerl and the late Wenzel Hoerl.
In addition to Mrs. Hoerl, Daun has one daughter, Mrs. John J. Keuler of Chilton. A son, Walter, died Jan 9, 1962.
He has 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Daun is the last survivor of a family of 10 children.
A member of the Town of Brothertown Board of Supervisors for two years, Daun has also been a member of St. Charles
Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Catholic Knights of Wisconsin, branch 118 and the church board of trustees.
Since his retirement three years ago, Daun enjoys good health, attends church regularly, takes daily walks, and up
until five years ago, drove his car.
