Joseph Wettsteins Mark 25th Event With Celebration

As part of the day's observance of their 25th wedding anniversary, Mr. And Mrs. Joseph Wettstein, R3, Chilton, were honored at a 9 o'clock High Mass of Thanksgiving Saturday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chilton.

The Rev. Henry Schmitt was celebrant of the mass, sung by the Sisters' choir. Sister M. Bene O.S.F. was the organist. During the offertory, she played "Ave Maria" and at the closing, " I Love Thee, O Mary."

At noon, a dinner was given at the Wettstein home for the immediate family, The Rev. Father Schmitt and the Rev. Duane Dionne.

Later in the day, a reception and 5 o'clock supper for 300 relatives and friends were held at Dorn's Hall at Charlesburg, followed by a private dance in the evening.

Table décor included an anniversary cake, designed and made by Mrs. Wettstein, as the centerpiece. It was decorated with the numeral "25", red roses and silver bells. Two lamb cakes, candles and flowers further adorned the table.

In remembrance of the anniversary, Mr. And Mrs. Wettstein received monetary and other gifts from the guests.

When the former Miss Rose Meier and Joseph Wettstein were married at St. Charles Catholic Church in Charlesburg Nov. 29, 1939, by the Rev. Leo Binder, their attendants were Mrs. Hugo Stemper, New Holstein, sister of the bride as matron of honor, and Mrs. Glenn Libke, also of New Holstein, a cousin, as bridesmaid. Another bridesmaid, Mrs. Elmer Reichwald, died in August. Best man for his brother was Ray Wettstein, Kloten, and Severin Meier, Fond du Lac, brother of Mrs. Wettstein, attended as groomsman.

The bride of 25 years ago is the daughter of Richard Meier, Charlesburg, and the late Mrs. Meier. Mr. Wettstein's parents were the late Mr. And Mrs. Frank Wettstein, Chilton.

Following their marriage, the Wettsteins located on their farm west of Chilton, which they still own and operate.

The couple has a daughter, Mrs. Cyril (Mary) Schaefer, Mount Calvary, and a son, Jerome, at home. Their three grandchildren are Cyril Schaefer Jr., Jeri Ann and Lisa Schaefer.

Guests were present from West Allis, Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Mount Calvary, St. Cloud, Malone, New Holstein, Marytown, Chilton and Charlesburg.
