Former New Holstein Residents Married Fifty Years; Have Celebration

The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Dedering and the twentieth wedding anniversary of their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brockmann of Plymouth, was celebrated at the Brockmann home at 25 Eastman St., Plymouth.

Mrs. Dedering is the former Louisa Backhaus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Christian Backhaus. She was born in the Town of Rhine, Sheboygan County. Mr. Dedering was born in the Town of Schleswig, Manitowoc County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Dedering.

The couple was married October 28, 1897, by the Rev. John Roeck in the Reformed Church in Kiel. Their Attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Warnke and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dedering of Kiel. The couple lived in Kiel for some time, and then moved to Thorp, where Mr. Dedering operated a Jewelry store. Then they moved to New Holstein in 1920, where they have lived until recently. They are members of the St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church at New Holstein. They are now residing at Plymouth.

They have three children, Elmer of Valders, Edgar of New Holstein, and Mrs. Ray {Elda} Brockmann of Plymouth; also three grandchildren.

Those present at the six o'clock dinner at the Brockmann home were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dedering, William Dedering and Mrs. Adolph Warnke of Kiel; Henry Dedering of Chilton; Mrs. Henry Backhaus of Howards Grove; Rev. and Mrs. J. R. Seidler and daughter Mary Jane of New Holstein; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Brockmann of Plymouth; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Dedering of Valders; Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Dedering, daughter Nancy Louise and son Charles of New Holstein.
