He married Martha Angeline Howton, May 8, 1881. She was born December 12, 1861, in Arkansas the daughter of Joshua Curtis and Eliza (?) Howton.

John and Martha were blessed with nine children:

(1) Albert, b. Oct 29, 1881, d. Nov 1, 1901, Marmaduke, b. Hartsoe Cemetery, Greene County, AR.

(2) Emma, b. Mar 10, 1884 Marmaduke, AR., d, Apr 11, 1972, Paragould, AR., m. Luther L. White Nov 1, 1903, he was born Dec 10, 1883, d. Sept 21, 1973, Schugtown, AR., both are resting in Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Paragould, AR. Emma and Luther had nine children:

(3) Jacob (Jake), b. Mar 12, 1887, Marmaduke, d. Apr. 30, 1968, Paragould, m. Mae Hodges, 1908 Greene Co. She was b. May 15, 1890 in Illinois, died June 9, 1979, Paragould, both are buried in New Friendship Cemetery. Jake and Mae had three sons, Melvin L., deceased, James F. b. 1919, living and Kenneth C. deceased.

(4) Oma Lona b. September, 1889, Marmaduke, d. Oct., 1975, Trumann, AR, She married Love Kinman 1911, Greene Co. he was born Jul 28, 1894, died Apr. 11, 1944, Trumann, AR. Both are buried in Memorial Cemetery, Craighead Co. AR. They had one daughter, Kathryn Leona, b. 1916, deceased.

(5) John b. Dec 1890, Marmaduke, d. July 1955., m. Dora V. Dills 1916, Greene Co., she was born, died Nov., 1973, both are interred in Oaklawn Cemetery, Jonesboro, AR., They had one daughter, Juanita Marie, b. 1918, d. 2004.

(6) Arthur b. Jan. 1893, Marmaduke, d. June 1962., he married (1) Ilah Tanner 1920, Greene Co., she died April 10, 1921. Second marriage to Thelma Moore, 1925, Greene Co., Thelma was born 1901, died Jan., 1990, Arthur and Thelma are interred in Memorial Cemetery, Craighead Co., AR., they had two children, Bennie, b. 1928, married Esta Lee Wells, 1955., and Diane, b. 1935.

(7) Robert Luther Curtis b. Jan 15, 1896, Marmaduke, d. Jan 29, 1905, Marmaduke, burial Hartsoe Cemetery, Marmaduke, AR.

(8) Earl b. Nov 27, 1899, Marmaduke, d. Jan 13, 1972, Monette, AR., he married (1) Alta Dowless 1925, Greene Co., she was born Mar. 20, 1905, Greene Co., died Sept. 26, 1948, Monette, AR., (2) Myrtle Lomax. Earl and Alta are interred in Memorial Cemetery, Craighead Co., AR. They had two children: Bobby and Lloyd.

(9) James Earvy b. Mar 15, 1902, Marmaduke, AR.d. Feb 26, 1988, Paragould., he married Lena M. Zollner, Apr., 11, 1928 in Paragould, she was the daughter of George and Teresa P. Zollner. Lena was born Mar., 8, 1905 in Wisconsin, died Oct., 20, 1997 in Greene Co., they had one child, Theresa Mae. Both are interred in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Paragould, AR.
