      Wesley Clatterbaugh

Wesley Clatterbuck was born in 1802 in Rockingham County, Virginia, the son of William Clatterbuck and Theodocia "Dicy" Turner. He died in March of 1876 in Silver Creek, Rockingham County, Virginia. The 1860 census changed Wesley's spelling from "Clatterbuck" to "Clatterbaugh". He died in March of 1876 in Silver Creek, Rockingham County, Virginia of pneumonia.

Wesley was married three times. First to Sarah "Sally" Alice Watson on May 25, 1819. There is some confusion about whether this marriage date is correct as it lists the groom as "Reuben" Clatterbuck. Nonetheless, Wesley is listed as living with "Sally" in the 1850 census. Their children, with the exception of Elizabeth are listed as living in a separate household in Rockbridge county in 1850. Sarah and Wesley had 13 children. It appears that Sally and Welsey and divorced as she is found in the home of her daughters in 1870 and 1880. Three of Wesley and Sally's daughters; Sarah, Lou Elenore and Lavinia, married into the Rea family.

Wesley then married Sarah Lenard Hodges about 1864. She used the surname "Clatterbuck" instead of Clatterbaugh. They had three children. They also appear to have divorced although Sarah's obituary calls her his "widow". Sarah was apparently left destitute, as she is found living in the Rockingham county poorhouse with her sons in 1870 and by herself in 1900 and died there on Sept 7, 1914.
