Kim and I are mostly doing the same old things: I'm still working at the Shipyard and we're both doing our best to survive kids. In my free time, I've been working on genealogy, and also this web site. Kim has a booth down at Old Wooley's selling odds and ends, and just started another booth up in Poulsbo with her friend Sherry. We went to Seaside, Oregon, for our 21st Wedding Anniversary last September and had a wonderful and relaxing time together. We stayed at the Gilbert Inn, which we both highly recommend. It is located right by the Boardwalk, is convenient to everything, and was very accommodating in all respects. |

Updated 5/25/01: Brian was inducted into the Navy on Valentines Day, Feb 14, 2001. He just graduated from Boot Camp at the Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Illinois. Kim and I went back to his graduation in Chicago, IL, and had a good time visiting with him, and seeing the big city. You can see a few pictures from the trip here; click on a picture to see full size: Now he is at the Naval Air Technical Training Center (NATTC) in Pensacola, FL, getting ready for "A" school. He will be learning his new job in the Navy, which is Aviation Life Support Technician. They do things like maintain and pack parachutes, and maintain aircrew survival equipment. You can write to him at: Brian
C. Cain Note: Brian should be wrapping up a great job at the NATTC as one of the top students in his class about the 11th of July. Don't write him too close to that date, or he'll be gone. His next duty site is at the Naval Air Station, Whidbey Island, Washington. We'll update this information as soon as we know the details. |
| Daniel will be a senior at Olympic
High School this year, and just finished his
first year on the school basketball team. Since he hadn't
played for the school before this last year, he didn't
get a lot of playing time. But it was a good learning
experience, and he still managed to have his moments of
glory. Joe was refereeing games again, and ended up doing a couple of Daniel's games. We told Daniel that it would probably be best not to refer to him as "Uncle Joe" during the game! Daniel got to play for most of one of those games and came right out and hit a free-throw and two three-point shots in the first couple of minutes. At half-time Joe asks, "What did you feed him for breakfast today?" Daniel's great recent achievement is that he passed the driving test and now has his license! Congratulations, Daniel! Now go get a job so you can pay for the gas, your insurance, cloths, the roof over your head.... Oh, someone forgot to tell you: Freedom has a price. He is currently down at Ty's for a week or two to visit with his cousin Ryan. We went camping at Mt. St. Helens last year, and Ryan came with us; here is a picture of him. Daniel is having a great time in sunny California going to the beach, playing basketball, and just plain getting spoiled. |
| Check out Elizabeth's
artwork here. Elizabeth is wrapped up her 6th grade year at Brownsville Elementary School, and is looking forward to the leap to Junior High School in the fall. She loves her pets. They currently consist of our dog Shellie, Elizabeth's cat Whiskers, and her salamander, which has outlived all expectations - she has had the thing for 5 or 6 years now! Elizabeth has been doing karate, and is having a great time at the classes and practicing on her brother. She recently got her yellow belt. She is also quite the little artist, and loves to draw. |
