FIVE TUSCOLA CO. SOLDIERS ARE DEAD
Caro business men and social circles were shocked to learn of the death of Clark E. Daugherty from pneumonm at Camp Custer early Tuesday morning. Mr. Daugherty severed his connection with the Peoples Bank to enter service. His mother, who went to see him Monday, returned with the body Tuesday afternoon. She is left without other near relatives. The son was twenty-nine years of age and was in the Quartermaster's department.
Guy Graham of Millington died Wednesday last at Camp Custer of Spanish influenza. A letter was received saying that he was recovering. Later a telegram was received that his condition was critical. The body will be sent to Millington for burial.
Another gold star has been added to Arbela's service flag, Sergeant Raymond Lee Allen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Allen. Sergeant Allen died of wounds received in action on September 2. The young man joined the Machine Gun company, No. 125, in June, 1916. At Fort Brady he was made a corporal and after arriving in France he was promoted to a sergeant. At the time of his death he was acting as first sergeant. He is survived by his parents, three brothers one now serving in the navy and two sisters.
Ralph Crosby, 23 year old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Crosby of Caro, died in Camp Custer from influenza and was brought to the home of his parents last week Wednesday.
Caro's first victim of the great war was Herbert D. Schall, only son of Mr. and Mrs. F. E. Schall; who enlisted in the Student, s' Army Training Corps at M. A. C. Sept. 25 and died of pneumonia Oct. 4.
