Donald D. “RED” Allen The Lord called Donald D. “Red” Allen Sr. home after a lengthy illness Tuesday morning, April 15, 2003 at St. Mary’s Hospital at the age of 53. He was born on November 30, 1949 in Saginaw, son of the late Mark and Phyllis (LaValley) Allen. Red was employed at Saginaw Rock Products Company for 17 years. He married the former Donna Smith on October 18, 1969 and had enjoyed hunting, fishing, outdoor life and his grandchildren. Surviving in addition to his loving wife Donna of 33 years are his children, Donald D. Allen Jr. of Reese, Darcey Weber of Saginaw; his greatest treasures, grandchildren, Donald D. Allen III and Danielle Weber; four brothers, Mark Allen of Rock, Gary Allen of Ohio, Richard Allen of Saginaw, Terry and Stacy Allen of West Branch; five sisters, Helen Erickson of Davison, Mary Jane Schiefer of Vassar, Brenda and Ed Grames of Saginaw, Nancy and Craig Simon of West Branch and Bonnie DeSmith of Houston, Texas; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service for Red took place at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 18 from the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Chapel of Reese. Rev. Rod Wagner officiated with burial in Denmark Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Allen family.
Arthur A. Anklam, 53, of Bay City and formerly of Reese, died Sunday evening, June 8, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital. He was born on December 31, 1949 in Saginaw, son of Cecil Sr. and the late Gertrude (Pringle) Anklam. Art attended St. Michael's School in Richville and graduated from Reese High School in 1969. He also attended and graduated from Saginaw Valley State University. Art married the former Ann Renwick on August 18, 1973. He was an avid hunter, golfer and was a member of Christ Lutheran Church while living in Reese and currently was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Bay City. Art enjoyed being with his family at their summer home at Hubbard Lake. He was a member of Lost Lake Woods Club in Lincoln and the Hubbard Lake Sportsmen Association. Surviving in addition to his wife Ann of 29 years are his two daughters, Laura Ann of Bay City, Lisa Marie of Grand Rapids; his father, Cecil Anklam Sr. and his good friend, Norma Heaton of Cadillac; three brothers and their spouses, Douglas and Linda Anklam of Omer, Cecil Jr. and Paula Anklam of Richville, Roger Anklam of Cadillac; one sister and her husband, Janet and Steve Parker of Yukon, Oklahoma; mother-in-law, Marjorie Renwick of Saginaw; sister-in-law, Jane Renwick, brother-in-law and his wife, Robert and Peggy Renwick all of Grand Rapids and several loving nieces and nephews. One son, Leonard Michael, his mother Gertrude Anklam, one brother, Leonard and his father-in-law Dr. Ralph Renwick, predeceased him. ~SERVICES~Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 12th from Christ Lutheran Church in Reese. Beverly J. (Stolte) Lofaro Arn, 76 of Richville, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2003 at the Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak after a lengthy illness. She was born on August 18, 1927 in Saginaw, daughter of the late Albert J. and Grace A. (Stuart) Stolte. She married Edward F. Arn on January 4, 1961 in Saginaw. He predeceased her on May 11, 2002. Beverly had enjoyed baking, sewing, spending time with her cat, Shelly and watching the Detroit Red Wings. She was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be greatly missed by her children, Mary Molhoek of Lansing, Joseph and Rosemary Lofaro, Albert Lofaro all of Saginaw, Frank and Ruth Lofaro of Pinconning, Susan Lofaro, David and Denise Lofaro all of Saginaw, Rocco and Carol Lofaro of Dallas, TX., Edward and Michele Arn of Fostoria, Emily Arn of Richville; 21 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a sister, Madalylnne R. Ryder of Bridgeport. 1 son, Gaetano Lofaro, 2 brothers, Daniel R. Stolte, Albert D. Esther Elizabeth (Reinbold) Bader Reese Died Tuesday afternoon, April 29, 2003 at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro, at the age of 95, where she had been a resident for the past 10 months. The eldest daughter of the late George and Barbara (Eberlein) Reinbold was born July 27, 1907 at home in Buena Vista Township, Saginaw County. On April 18, 1931 she was married to Arnold F. Bader at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Frankentrost. He predeceased her April 15, 1997 after 66 years of marriage. Esther and Arnold farmed in the Reese, Marlette and Sandusky areas for many years until their retirement. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese and was active for many years in its Ladies Aid, holding several offices, and helped serve numerous funeral dinners. She helped sew quilts for Lutheran World Relief and volunteered at the Bethesda Thrift Store in Saginaw for many years. Esther loved the outdoors, especially her flowers and garden and passing that love on to her family and friends. She was quite an outdoorswoman and a hunter, successfully harvesting a deer many times. She loved her family and grandchildren and especially her great-grandchildren during her illness. In addition to her husband and parents, Esther was predeceased by four brothers, Edwin, Elmer, Aaron and Alvin Pete Reinbold; one sister, Erma Kabat; and a grandson, Nicholas Vudures. Funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3 from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. Reverend Matthew Garred and Reverend Steven Siegel will both officiate with burial to follow in the Blumfield Township Cemetery. Mrs. Bader's family will receive friends at the church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Frank C. Baranic Apache Junction, AZ, formerly of Caro Passed away Thursday, March 20, 2003 in Apache Junction, AZ at the age of 81. Frank was born March 27, 1921 in Juniata Twp. on the family farm, the son of the late John and Anna (Jusko) Baranic. He served with the U.S. Marines during World War II. After the war, he returned to the family farm and was a lifelong Juniata Twp. farmer until moving to Apache Junction, AZ in 1994. Frank enjoyed golf, playing cards and being with his friends and family. He was united in marriage to Eleanor MacDougal in 1946. She passed away December 26, 1968. He then married Joann Robison on May 23, 1970. He is survived by his wife, Joann; six children and their spouses, Frank and Sharon Baranic of Vassar, Keith and Leslie Baranic of Roseville, CA, Perry and Janelle Baranic of Caro, Deborah and Dave Hutchison of Caro, Donna and Rich Hartman of Caro, Steve and Shelly Robison of Mesa, AZ; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters and one brother, Anne Ellis of Bad Axe, Elizabeth Nagy of Tawas City, Joseph and Alice Baranic of Vassar; and many nieces and nephews. Frank was preceded in death by six brothers, John, Andy, Steve, Mike, George and William Baranic and one sister, Mary Seaman. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 12 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Caro with Rev. John Weis officiating. The family will receive friends at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Banner Gardens Hospice House, 7231 E. Broadway, Mesa, AZ 85206. The Ransford Funeral Home of Caro assisted the family with these arrangements.
Thomas "Alze" Baranski, 86, of Kinde, died Saturday, May 31, 2003, at the Huron County Medical Care Facility in Bad Axe. He was born on March 3, 1917 in Dwight Township, son of the late Stanley and Stella (Butterwick) Baranski. He and Grace Gomoluch were married on June 5, 1942 in Rapson. She preceded him in death on Oct. 17, 1999. Thomas was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dwight Township and the Bad Axe Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed farming, fishing, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his daughter, Mary Baranski and her special friend, John Morozuk, of Oklahoma City; his son, James Baranski of Greenwich, N.Y.; his foster son, George Maul and his wife, Bev, of Kinde; his foster daughter, Sandra Jenkins, of Kinde; two grandsons, Ian Baranski, of New York City and Jimmy Baranski, of Atlanta, Ga.; three sisters, Regina Zmick, Julia Williams, and Bernice Clancy. He was preceded in death by 14 brothers and sisters. Funeral mass will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dwight Township. The Rev. Mieczyslaw Oniskiewicz will officiate. Burial will follow in Rock Falls Cemetery in Harbor Beach. A vigil service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Knoblock Funeral Home in Kinde. George H. Bauer,Richville, Michigan God has call a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and good friend away on Tuesday, March 04, 2003. Age 69 years. He was born April 6, 1933 in Richville, son of Martha (Heinlein) Bauer and the late Edward Bauer. On May 19, 1962 he was married to Dolores Raedeke in Amelith. He was a life long resident and farmer in Richville. He member of the St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville, served with U. S. Army, was a member of the Alvin F. Miller American Legion Post # 400 in Richville and was a long time member of the Richville Fire Department. George enjoyed spending time with family and friends and enjoyed spending time in God's Northern woods. Surviving besides his mother, and his cherished wife, Dolores of 40 years are his loving children, Bryan Bauer and his wife Kristine and Mary Bierlein and her husband Tom; five grandchildren, Jacob, Levi and Abbie Bauer, Elizabeth and Mariah Bierlein; two brothers, Frederick Bauer and his wife Barbara, John Bauer and his wife Sue, two sisters, Elaine Stoic and her husband Stanley, Judy Bauer and her husband Fred and many nieces, nephews and special friends. ~SERVICES~Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 7, 2003 from St. Michael's Lutheran Church. Bonnie M. Bekaert, 72, of Port Hope, passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at her home with hospice care following an extended illness. Born in Detroit on Feb. 3, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Carl G.A. and Ethel (Ripple) Peterson. On Oct. 6, 1951, Bonnie was united in marriage to Donald Gulick in Flint. He preceded her in death on May 30, 1992. On July 2, 1996, Bonnie and Bernard Bekaert were united in marriage in Bad Axe. She was a life member of the Port Hope-Grindstone Sportsman's Club. Bonnie is survived by her husband, Bernard Bekaert, of Port Hope; a son, Christopher Gulick, of Port Hope; two grandchildren, Melissa and Jessica Tufford, of Clio; step-children, Mary Jo Trumble, of Pickney, William Bekaert, of Sherman, Texas, Betty Lou Bekaert, of Ann Arbor, and Fred Bekaert, of Marquardt. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara G. Tufford. Cremation has taken place at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City and a memorial service will take place at a later date. Floyd E. Bell Caro Passed away Saturday, April 26, 2003, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility following a lingering illness, at the age of 89. Floyd was born March 17, 1914 on the family farm in rural Unionville, the son of the late Leonard and Lucelia (Briggs) Bell. He worked on the family dairy farm before moving to Caro in the early 1940's. During World War II, he was employed at the Defoe Ship Yard in Bay City, working as a final electrical inspector. The family moved to Mayville in 1949 where he owned and operated Bell's Texaco gas station in Mayville for many years. Floyd moved to Mt. Morris in 1965 where he sold real estate for 11 years. He retired in Florida in 1976, returning to Caro in 1995. Floyd was united in marriage to Iva L. O'Dell on December 25, 1934 at her parents' home near Cass City. Surviving besides his wife, Iva, are two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Dean and Sandy Bell of Caro, Doug and Donna Bell of Lakeland, FL, Norma and Bill Cartwright of Caro; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Floyd was predeceased by an infant daughter, Madelyn Marie Bell in 1936. Funeral service took place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 29 at the Ransford Funeral Home in Caro. Rev. Keith Mead of the Columbiaville Baptist Church officiated. Burial followed in the Almer Twp. Cemetery in Caro. Memorials may be made to the Caro Community Hospital Endowment Foundation or the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility.
Glenn Milton Bender Akron Passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at his residence, at the age of 79. He was born on December 15, 1923, on the family farm in Fairgrove Township. He graduated from Caro Public Schools in 1941. Glenn Bender and the former Margaret Leaym were married on January 28, 1950, in Caro. He operated the family farm, and had been employed by Michigan Sugar Company in Caro until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed traveling, was a sports fan and enjoyed woodworking. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; two sons and two daughters, Dale Bender of Caro, Joan Wilder of Bay City, Dr. James (Debbie) Bender of Saginaw and Jill Woloshen of Mayville; five grandchildren, Chris (Jamie) Wilder of Paw Paw, Joel Wilder of Akron, Kevin Bender of Saginaw, Jason Bender of Saginaw, Tara Woloshen of Mayville; one sister, Esther Christensen of Burlington, NC; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Ethel (Rayl) Bender; one brother, Clifton Bender; his infant daughter, Janet Bender; and one son-in-law, Steven Woloshen. Funeral service will be held at Collon Funeral Home in Caro on Saturday, April 19 at 11 a.m. with Doug Bassett, Chaplain for Heartland Hospice officiating. Burial will be in Indianfields Township Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Collon Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Leukemia Foundation or Heartland Hospice.
Dorothy Marie Benton Millington Went home with our Lord Sunday morning, April 6, 2003 while at the Sun Crest Medical Care Facility in Lapeer, at the age of 83. Dorothy was born April 11, 1919 in Genesee County and was the daughter of Charles and Agnes (Gibson) Hoard and had been a lifelong Millington resident. Dorothy married Frank C. Benton on November 2, 1935 and together they shared 43 years of marriage before Frank's passing in 1978. Dorothy was employed for many years at Falls 5 & 10 Value Store in Millington. She was also a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Millington and was once active as an adopted grandparent for the Mayville schools. Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory her family, children, Roberta and Richard Lumsden of Oregon, Howard and Eleanor Benton of Millington, Elaine and Jim Snyder of Lapeer and Willie and Sue Ill of Millington; grandchildren, Rusty, Jimmy, Clifford, Jeff, Virginia, Shelley, Eric and Neil; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; dear friend, Polk Webster; three sisters, Ila Raymond, Chris Sebert and Norma Harris; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. Dorothy was also preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ill in 1993; a grandson, Howard Dean Benton in 1984; and five sisters and two brothers. Funeral service for Dorothy was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Millington with burial in the Millington Twp. Cemetery. Pastor James Bruner officiated. Roger A. Bergman, 53, of Vassar, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2003, at Covenant Health Care - Cooper.He was born in Pigeon on July 6, 1949. He was employed by Super Foods/Nash Finch and was an honorary member of the Cass City Fire Department. He enjoyed hunting, auction sales and spending time with his family. He was anxiously awaiting the arrival of his first grandchild. Roger will be missed and remembered by all. He is survived by his wife, Lorna Wurst; three children, Kristy Bergman, Carrie Bergman and Jason Bergman and his wife, Amy; his mother, Florence Bergman, of Frankenmuth; brothers and sisters, Ed Bergman Jr. and his wife, Deb, of Vassar, Norma Hartwick and her husband, Roger, of Millington, Jim Bergman and his wife, Brenda, of Gainesville, Fla., John Bergman and his wife, Julie, of Cass City, and Nancy Mallory and her husband, Rick, of Cass City; several nieces and nephews; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Bergman Sr.; and a sister, Mary Rucker. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2003, at Penzien-Steele Funeral Home/Hanlin Chapel in Vassar. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Robert A. Betson Unionville Died early Sunday morning, April 20, 2003 at his home following a lengthy illness, at the age of 77. He was born February 16, 1926 in Fort Wayne, IN, son of the late Aloysius P. and Irene (Pessfall) Betson. He was united in marriage to Rose Marie Charette on September 23, 1950 in Detroit. He was a decorated veteran serving in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart. Bob had owned and operated a Marathon gas station in Lake Orion for 20 years before moving to Sebewaing in 1969. He then had been employed at the former Sebewaing Industries for 15 years, retiring 10 years ago. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Sebewaing. He also was a member of the Fairgrove V.F.W. Post #7486. He enjoyed working in his yard, bowling and deer hunting. Surviving besides his wife, Rose Marie are two daughters, two sons and spouses, Judith A. (Robert) Blount, Thomas J. (Nancy) Betson, all of Sebewaing, Robert J. (Danielle) Betson and Lynn M. (Olin) Hemerline, all of Unionville; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; also one sister, Mary Lou Phillips of Albuquerque, NM; one brother, Richard Betson of Southfield; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon T. Betson and one brother, James Betson. Funeral service took place at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 22 at the Dinkel-Juengel Funeral Home in Sebewaing. Fr. George Serour officiated with cremation at Sunset Valley Crematory in Bay City and inurnment in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Sebewaing. Memorials may be made to the American Red Cross or the charity of the donors choice.
Evelyn Ruth Beyerlein, 74 of Reese, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, August 9, 2003 at the Bay Regional Medical Center. She was born on March 14, 1929 in Munger, daughter of Angeline (Dolley) DuRussel and the late Arthur DuRussel. She attended St. Mary's School of Nursing, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1949. The former Evelyn DuRussel married Harold Beyerlein on October 25, 1952 at St. Norbert's Catholic Church in Munger. She had worked for Dr. Frank Gugino and Dr. George Gugino in Reese and was currently working at Delphi and Michigan Lutheran Seminary as an occupational health nurse. Evelyn was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She served on the Reese School Board for many years, active with the Unity District Library, the Reese Band Booster and was very active in and around the Reese community, including, collecting for the American Cancer Society and volunteering for Senior Citizens blood pressure screenings. Mrs. Beyerlein had enjoyed baking, sewing, canning, reading, playing scrabble and cards, but most of all; her true joy was spending time with her grandchildren and family. Norbert L. Bobay, of Reese, passed away Wednesday, August 27, 2003, at the IHT of Michigan at Riverbend, Grand Blanc, MI. Age 68 years. The son of the late Lawrence J. and Armella (Herber) Bobay was born June 26, 1935 in Hoagland, Indiana. He married Betty L. Hollis on July 26, 1980. She survives him. He served with the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church where he served as an Usher and on the financial committee. He was a Charter Past Grand Knight and member of the Knights of Columbus #9305. Norb worked in financial institutions in Indiana and southern Michigan, moving to Saginaw in 1979 working for PSRO and Mutual Savings and Loan. He joined W.L. Case and Co. as manager of their furniture store retiring in June of 2000. He continued to work with W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapels until July 31, 2001. He raised five childen and fostered many more. Surviving besides his wife are five children and their spouses, Kathleen L. Bobay, Grass Lake, MI; Norbert L. Gerald W. A. Bock, 76, of Cass City, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, in Northwood Meadows Dementia Care after a long illness. He was born March 9, 1927 at home in Pigeon to William and Johannah (Gettel) Bock. He married Irva M. Schulz on Oct. 2, 1948 in Linkville. Jerry was a dairy and crop farmer for most of his working life. He served on the Ambulance Board in Tuscola County for many years from its inception. Jerry served as Township Supervisor for Greenleaf Township for 22 years. He and his wife vacationed in Pineallas Park, Fla. for about 30 years. Jerry was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cass City. Virgil Allen Boss, 78, lifelong resident of Colfax Township, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. Mr. Boss was born in Colfax Township on April 25, 1925, son of the late William and Pearl (Seely) Boss. Virgil was the sexton of Colfax Township Cemetery from 1950 to 1988. He liked to "tinker" with just about anything. He enjoyed gospel and country music, writing music and visiting with family and friends. Mr. Boss is survived by seven nieces and nephews, Sharon Sobczak and her husband, Richard, of Bad Axe, Dale Snay and his wife, Kathy, of Bad Axe, Betty Maxwell and her husband, Dale, of Bad Axe, Marcia Bills and her husband, Dennis, of Lapeer, Sandra Rapson, of Port Austin, Pat McCoy and her husband, Richard, of Bad Axe, and Barbara Armstrong and her husband, Paul, of Saginaw. Ann M. Buchinger, 57 of Reese, died Wednesday morning, November 12, 2003 at her home. She was born on October 13, 1946 in Saginaw, daughter of S. Lenore (Berridge) Winterstein and the late Otto Brechtelsbauer. Ann was a member of the Frankenmuth Bible Church. She had great delight in spending time with her family and friends and was known for her warmth and hospitality. Ann was especially grateful to several physicians and caregivers for the last several months, including, Dr. Jane I. Castillo and staff, Delores Damm, Jan Hecht and Christel Zeilinger. E. "Paul" Buchinger, of Saginaw, died early Thursday morning, October 23, 2003 at his home. Age 54 years. He was born April 14, 1949 in Saginaw, son of Rosalee (Warba) Buchinger of South Branch and the late Elmer George Buchinger. He was raised in Richville and later moved to Carrolton and was a 1967 graduate of Carrolton High School. Paul married Raeann Meier September 30, 1994 in Saginaw. She survives him. He was employed for 25 years by General Motors at the Grey Iron Foundry in Saginaw, retiring in 1996. Paul enjoyed wildlife, the outdoors, canoeing, kayaking, and took special pride in his woodworking and gardening. He especially loved music and playing his harmonica. Surviving in addition to his wife Raeann and his mother Rosalee, is his son, Travis James Buchinger of Saginaw, his brother Bruce G. Buchinger and his wife Susan of Mikado, three sisters, Patricia Pappas of Saginaw, Barbara Goslee and her special friend Dave Heinetz of East Tawas and Victoria Orze and her husband Walt of Phoenix, Arizona. Bernice Caswell, 76, of Deckerville, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2003, in the Deckerville Community Hospital. She was born March 15, 1926 in Caro, the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Malkowski. She married Eugene Kloc in 1945. He proceeded her in death in 1963. She then married Arthur Caswell on Aug. 20, 1977. Bernice was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Palms and a member of the Polish National Alliance. She also loved to sew. Mrs. Caswell is survived by her husband, Arthur; one son, Edward J. Kloc, of Greenville, N.Y.; five daughters: Caroline Rutkoski and her husband, Ronald, of Decker, Theresa Woodward and her husband, Rusty, of Bad Axe, Elaine Fase and her husband, Scott, of Waterford, Helen Wozniczka, of Pigeon, and Jeanette O'Conner, of Caro; 16 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Roman Malkowski, of Pigeon; three sisters, Mrs. Hope Wisniewski, of California, Mrs. Irene Tweedie, of Caseville, and Mrs. Genevieve Middleton, of Mayville; and several nieces and nephews. Donald George Clark formerly of Mayville Died Tuesday, April 8, 2003 at home with his family, at the age of 86. Donald was born June 8, 1916 in Deford to John and Laura (King) Clark. He married Edwina Thane on July 7, 1934. He retired from the Vassar Foundry. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding down country roads and loved his grandchildren. He also enjoyed anything that had to do with John Deere. Mary May Collier Sebewaing, Michigan Former of Decatur, Alabama Age 89 years, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning, November 5, 2003 with her family at her side at her apartment at Medallion Village in Sebewaing. She was born March 13, 1914 in Cleveland, Ohio, daughter of the late Michael and Rose (Toth) Belich. She was united in marriage to Elmer A. Collier on February 6, 1932 in LaGrange, Indiana. He preceded her in death on June 24, 1981. Mary was a member of the Harvest Baptist Church in Akron, MI and also the Fairgrove V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary Post #7486. Donald Lexas Corrigan, R.Ph. Vassar Called home to His Lord and Savior Thursday, October 2, 2003 at his residence, at the age of 70. He was born March 31, 1933, in Dearborn. He graduated in 1952 from Henry Ford Trade School in Dearborn. He was a U.S. Army soldier stationed at Fort Hood in Kileen, Texas, where he earned a Good Conduct Medal, later becoming an Army Reservist and a veteran. He graduated from Ferris University in 1963 with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Donald Corrigan and Mary Elizabeth Kloc were married December 20, 1969 in Saginaw. He was a member of the Michigan Pharmaceutical Association. Don enjoyed playing golf, working on his property, woodworking and carpentry. He is survived by his wife, Mary Corrigan of Vassar; one son, Michael and Nancy Corrigan of Hamburg; three daughters, Kathleen & J.R. Ella Sue Cross Caro Passed away suddenly on Sunday, May 4, 2003, at Saint Mary's Hospital, Saginaw, at the age of 55. She was born on February 12, 1948, in Saginaw. She graduated from Caro High School in 1966, and went on to attend Central Michigan University, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. The former Ella Sue Hess and Keith Cross were married on July 15 1977, in Caro. She was employed at the Caro Regional Center until her retirement on July 1, 2002. She was a member of the Juniata Baptist Church, a member of the church choir, and also was a Sunday school teacher. Her church was very important to her. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and gardening; as well as her eight grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Keith of Caro; three children, Christy (James) Garcia, Robin (Randy) Smith and Keith Cross, all of Caro; eight grandchildren, Dakota Cross, Tavin Cregar-Cross, Jaron O'Kelly, Josefina Garcia, Jose Garcia, Somer Smith, Andrea Smith, Maya Smith; her mother, Loraine Hess of Caro; one sister and two brothers, Molly Sieland of Roseville, John (Cindy) Hess of Colorado, Mark Hess of Caro; several nieces and nephews. Florence D. "Flip" Curtis, of Mayville and formerly of Saginaw, died Monday afternoon, December 15, 2003 at her residence, The Fisher Convalescent Home, in Mayville. She was born October 25, 1921 in Saginaw, daughter of the late John J. and Viola "Lottie"(Jasianska) Fila and graduated from Holy Rosary High School. She was married to Frank Leo Curtis in 1948. He predeceased her in 1990. Mrs. Curtis was a resident of Saginaw most of her life before making her home in Mayville six years ago. She was a former member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saginaw. Kay Ann Damm, 67, of Reese, died early Saturday morning, May 3, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. She was born February 4, 1936 in Saginaw, daughter of the late Adolph and Irene (Maxwell) Schwartz, and was a 1954 graduate of Reese High School. On July 16, 1953 she was married to Edward F. Damm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese. He predeceased her July 2, 1991. Mrs. Damm was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese and with her husband, operated

Richard L. Dankert, 89 of Blumfield Township, died Thursday afternoon, July 24, 2003 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw. He was born on June 13, 1914 in Chesaning, son of the late Ernest C. and Libbie (Filkins) Dankert. Dick served in the United States Army during World War II with the 328th Army Service Band in Camp Lee in Virginia. He married the former Adell Finger on June 8, 1947 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Saginaw. Dick had worked for a short time at the Lufkin Rule in Saginaw and then with the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier, retiring in 1969 after 33 years of service. His memberships include, St. John’s Lutheran Church in Saginaw, Blumfield American Legion Post # 229, The Blandford Masonic Lodge # 3 in Petersburg, Virginia, and in early years, he had played violin with the Germaina Orchestra and the Saginaw Civic Symphony. He served as Clerk for Blumfield Township for 2 terms and was a past director of the Saginaw Postal Credit Union. Dick was an avid deer hunter, fishermen and turkey hunter. Surviving in addition to his wife Adell of 56 years are his children and their spouses, Richard and Paula Dankert of Sterling, Theodore and Carol Dankert of St. Charles, Forrest and Beth Dankert of Reese, Katherine and Kurt Fosburg of Negaunee; grandchildren, Andrew, Samantha, Leslie, Derrick and Brent; sister, Arlene Dargie of Saginaw and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Nelson Emmett Davis Mayville Died Monday, April 14, 2003 at home with his family, at the age of 82. Nelson was born January 6, 1921 in Mayville to Paul and Buelah (Pittinger) Davis. He was Seaman First Class in the Navy and served in the pacific during World War II. He was awarded the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic Pacific Ribbon, European Theater Ribbon, Philippine Liberation Ribbon and the Victory Medal. He was with the USS Benjamin Brown French Gunners, Mate 5 Inch 20 Millimeter Air Craft Gunner. He married Sandra on December 24, 1996. He was a lifetime member of the Mayville American Legion Post #181 and Mayville/Vassar VFW Post #10884. He was a lifetime farmer, loved horses and was a member of Michigan Horse Drawn Vehicle Association. He is survived by his wife, Sandra; two sons, Nelson E. Davis of St. Clair and John (Mary) Davis of Mt. Morris; three daughters, Kay (Joseph) Scrimger of Clifford, Jean (Randy) Halazon of Vassar and Charlotte Davis of Grand Ledge; two brothers, Wayne (Lois) Davis of Lapeer and Gale Davis of Mio; four sisters, Rose Mary (Ferris) Powell of Columbiaville, Helen (Pat) Griffith of Atlanta, Phyllis (Harold) Clark of Johannesburg and Peggy Wilcox of Attica; 23 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; three stepchildren, Heidi (Dale) Mischke, St. Paul, MN, Michael (Shelley) Wiederhold, Caro and Eric (Carla) Wiederhold of Andover, MN; also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by wife, Anna Davis in 1996 and a brother, Arthur. Funeral service was at the First Presbyterian Church in Caro at 10 a.m. Friday, April 18 with Pastor Charles Marquardt officiating. Interment was in the Watertown Township Cemetery in Fostoria with military honors conducted by Mayville/Vassar VFW Post #10884 and American Legion Post #181. William (Chief) Davis Jr. Mayville Died Saturday, April 12, 2003 at Community Health Center of Branch County, Coldwater, at the age of 67. Chief was born December 26, 1935 in Lapeer to William and Lucy (Nelson) Davis Sr. He married Dorothy Weiler June 11, 1957 in Caro. He worked as a dredge man for Anderson Gravel Company and repaired automobiles. He attended the Juniata Baptist Church and was a member of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved his family. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three sons, William Patrick (Ronda) Davis of Mayville, Keith (Barbara) Davis of Kingston and Jim (Joy) Davis of Silverwood; six daughters, Cheryl Berlin of Vassar, Connie (Larry) Truett of Clio, Loralee (Bill) Werth of Caro, Lorali (Dave) Berlin of Millington Sandra (Roger) Tabako of Caro and Karen (Marc) Cantlin of Snover; two brothers, Thomas Davis of Muskegon and Joseph Davis of Flint; one sister, Lucy Donovan of Caro; brother-in-law, Leonard (Kay) Weiler of Grayling; three sisters-in-law, Mary Lou (Luke) Giddings of Mayville, Ruth Ann (Richard) Hercliff of Mayville and May Lockhart of Ypsilanti; 33 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Ada M. Dennis Cass City, formerly of Caro Passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Tendercare, Cass City, at the age of 87. She was born on February 6, 1916 in Dayton Township, and was a lifelong resident. The former Ada Middleton married Bruce Dennis on August 8, 1935, at Caro. He preceded her in death on March 26, 1972. Ada was a homemaker and a mother, as well as being a 4-H leader for many years. She enjoyed crafts, knitting and crocheting. She is survived by six children and spouses, Robert and Betty Dennis of Mayville, Bruce and Joan Dennis Jr. of Caro, James and Marilyn Dennis of Caro, Richard and Cindy Dennis of Millington, Jo Ann and Elton (Butch) Cummings of Caro, Jennie and Robert Reuther of Mayville; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister and her spouse, Iris and Earl Bailey Sr. of Mayville; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Onalee Dennis; one grandson, Bruce Dennis III; one great-great-granddaughter, Cheyenne Irvine; three sisters and one brother, Mary Caverly, Elizabeth Carpenter, Violet Huntley and John Middleton. Arno J.(Butch) Eberlein, Thonotosassa, FL, formerly of Millington Passed away suddenly at his residence in Thonotosassa, FL Monday, December 1, 2003, at the age of 55. Butch was the son of Arno J. and Martha (Mikolojski) Sr. and was born in Saginaw January 6, 1948. Butch lived in the Millington area until moving to Florida where he had resided for the past 20 years. He was employed by Miller & Son Trucking as one of their truck drivers. Butch was a veteran and served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during his tour of duty. Butch leaves to cherish his memory his family, mother, Martha Eberlein; brother, Gerald (Jerry) Eberlein; sisters, Karen and Doug Domler, Donna and Wayne Rose, Lisa and Bob Aubert, all of Millington; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Donald J. Elenbaum Unionville Passed away Monday, April 14, 2003, at the age of 79. He was born in Brookfield Township on January 21, 1924, the son of Alfred and Martha (Gregor) Elenbaum. On November 11, 1944, he married the former Beatrice Kundinger. Don had been a farmer all of his lifetime. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Unionville. Surviving along with ‘Beattie’, his loving wife of 59 years are their daughters, Marilyn (James) Calopisis of Unionville and Marsha (Gary) Bauer of Jackson; grandchildren, Shelley (Marc) Wolff, Derek Bauer, Vanessa (Charles) Burrows and Dana Bauer and fiancee Kyle Brown; great-grandchildren, Kayla Wolff, Alexis Wolff and Evan Burrows; a brother, Merrill Elenbaum of Mayville; a sister, Myrtle Pringle of Arkansas; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd, Robert and Ralph; and sisters, Dorothy Shupe and Virginia Niebel. Trevor Robert Emming, infant son of Dean and Carrie Emming, was received into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, May 31, 2003, at Covenant Harrison Hospital in Saginaw. Born on May 31, 2003, he was the son of Dean and Carrie (Mausolf) Emming. He is survived by his loving parents; maternal grandparents, Mary and Terry Conklin, of Port Huron and Dale and Audrey Mausolf, Sr. of Port Hope; paternal grandparents, Robert and Arlene Emming, of Harbor Beach; maternal great-grandmother, Marian Mausolf; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Lela B. Felske, 98 of Reese, died early Monday morning, June 9, 2003 at the Martin Luther Nursing Home in Saginaw. She was born on June 18, 1904 in Marlette, daughter of the late William and Anna (Wagner) Woodword. She married Leonard Felske on April 22, 1925 in Reese, he predeceased her on January 21, 1974. Lela was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese, its ladies aid and she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Surviving is one son, Milton (Belle) Felske of Reese and one daughter, Joyce (Walter) Schrenk of Midland; six grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Helen Kuehnemund, Alveria Waltermyer and Mable Felske. One son-in-law, Donald Troike, predeceased Lela. ~SERVICES~Due to Construction at Trinity Lutheran Church, Funeral services for Mrs. Felske will take place at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 12th from St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville. Joyce E. Franko, 82, of Vassar, Mich., died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003 at Covenant Health Care-Michigan in Saginaw. She was born May 10, 1921 in Stevens Point, the daughter of William and Olga (Heehn) VanOrder. She was a graduate of Minocqua High School in 1939. Joyce married Michael Franko May 5, 1943 in Wisconsin. She retired from United Plastics in Vassar after about 15 years of service. She enjoyed golf, bowling and sewing. Joyce is survived by three daughters, Anne Franko (Andrew Martin) of Traverse City, Mich., Mary Franko (Frank Hebbeln) of Portland, Ore., and Susan (Donald Foss ) of Yorba Linda, Calif.; six grandchildren, Michael Franko, Peter Martin, Donald, Steven, Peter and Michael Foss; one brother, William (Jeanne) VanOrder, of Minocqua; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Michael; and one bother, Robert VanOrder. A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 13, at Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Vassar. Rev. Arlee Freiburger, 91, of Cass City, and formerly of Argyle Township, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at Northwood Meadows in Cass City. Arlee was born March 3, 1911 in Snover to the late Jacob and Anna (Treadeau) Freiburger. He married Olive Sundby Peterson on March 4, 1957 in Newport Richie, Fla. She preceded him in death on January 11, 2002. Arlee was a 1928 graduate of Sandusky High School. He farmed with his family. He spent his winters from 1980 to 1996 in Mesa, Ariz. He enjoyed motorcycles and owned Scotty's Indian Sales. He was a musician, enjoyed genealogy, and was a local historian and writer. He was a lover of birds and trees. Arlee is survived by two daughters, Linda Peterson of Mount Pleasant, Mary Eavey and her husband, Mike, of Burton; three grandchildren, Joshua, Jeremy, and Jennifer Eavey of Burton; two sisters, Wilhelmina Des Jardins of Port Huron, Madeline O'Connor, of Sandusky. Funeral mass for Arlee Freiburger will be 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2003, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Argyle. The Rev. Gertrude E. Gadel REESE, MICHIGAN Died Monday morning December 29, 2003 at the Saginaw Geriatrics Home. Age 82 years. She was born April 8, 1921 in Arlene, MI. daughter of the late William and Essalena (VanderLaan) Dykhouse. She was first married to Melvin Shaffer. He predeceased her August 12, 1971. She then married Rhinehold E. Gadel December 4, 1971 in Bridgeport. He predeceased her December 25, 1999. Mrs. Gadel was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Reese and enjoyed reading. Surviving is her daughter Linda Vanderpool of Reese, four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one great great grandson. Also surviving are three brothers and two sisters, Gerrit Dykhouse and his wife Arlene of Allendale, Bernard Dykhouse and his wife Pat of Mancelona, Duwayne Dykhouse and his wife Tina of Hussonville, Geanette Poelman and her husband Wendell of Wyoming, MI. and Yvonne “Bonnie” VanHoven and her husband Donald of Zeeland. Allen J. Gleeson West Branch, formerly of Gilford Passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 9, 2003, at the age of 72. He was born August 28, 1930 in Detroit, son of Jacob and Olive (Kern) Gleeson. He was employed in the automotive industry. He had lived in the Clear Lake area for the past 13 years, formerly of Gilford. He enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Charlotte DuRussel. Survivors include his wife, Betty Gleeson of West Branch; son, Rodney (Rose) Gleeson of Flint; two daughters, Deborah (Eddie) Hatfield of Vassar and Patricia (Frank) Hatfield of Vassar; nine grandchildren, two very special grandsons, David Taylor and Erik Hatfield; four great-grandchildren; sister, Jean (Ralph) Seitz of West Branch; two brothers, Donald (Janet) Gleeson of North Branch, Michael (Ann) Gleeson of Vassar; many nieces and nephews. Adam James Gomez, Caro Infant son of Carlos and Allison (May) Gomez Jr., passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at Caro Community Hospital at the age of four months. He was born July 24, 2003 in Lapeer. Besides his parents, Adam is survived by his brother, Jesse and twin sister, Emily, both living at home; his paternal grandparents, Carlos and Bonnie Gomez Sr. of Caro; maternal grandparents, Tim and Shawn May of Vassar and Ann Proffer of Caro; great-grandparents, Burt and Doris Kennard of Millington and Helen G. Susan E. Gray Caro Died on Sunday, April 13, 2003 at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, at the age of 100. She was born on August 19, 1902 in Deford, and was a lifelong Tuscola County resident. The former Susan Pelton married Harry Gray on April 6, 1921, in Cass City. He preceded her in death in November of 1969. Susan was a homemaker with the exception of World War II when she worked at Briggs Manufacturing making shells for the war effort. During the following years, she worked at times as a waitress and clerk. Susan was a member of the Protestant faith and a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie #3587, Caro. She is survived by one son and two daughters, John and Dorothy Gray of Caro, Marjorie Beekman of Warren, Susan and William Guilds of Vassar; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a great-great-great-grandson; two sisters and two brothers, Harriet Crittenden of Florida, Mary Collins of North Branch, Chester Pelton of Florida, Harvey Pelton of Michigan; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sons, Edward and Marvin Gray in 1928; two daughters, Pauline in 1931 and Doris Hall; three sisters and one brother. Hunter James Greenleaf Vassar Infant son of James and Crystal (Donnelly) Greenleaf, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2003 at Covenant Harrison in Saginaw. A private service took place at the Martin Funeral Home, Clark Chapel in Vassar with Rev. Mary Grimshaw officiating and interment in Riverside Cemetery. Surviving are Hunter’s parents, James and Crystal; grandparents, James and Kay Greenleaf and Judy Donnelly and Dan Callahan; aunts and uncles, Stacie Shamel, Jason Greenleaf, Kimberly Donnelly and Danielle Callahan; and cousins, Sara and Josh Shamel. Rev. John Francis (Jack) Greer, Saginaw, Michigan. Passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center-Cooper. Age 74 years. He was born February 17, 1929 in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late Rev. Francis J. and Eva Greer. He married Geraldine Hall on June 17, 1948; she surivives him. He served 41 years with the United Methodist Church: 1951-1954 LaPorte-Mapleton, 1954-1959 Millsburg, 1959-1965 Fairgrove-Unionville, 1965-1971 Epworth (Saginaw), 1971-1982 Columbisville-W.Deerfield, 1982-1986 Iron Mountain (Trinity), 1986-1988 St. Clari Shores, 1988-1992 Cheboygan (st. Paul's), then he retired in 1992. Surviving besides his wife are five daughters and one son, Bonnie and Rick Davenport, Saginaw; Judith Geer Livonia; Janice and Angus Leonard, Clearwater, Florida; Karen and Mark Peters, Kalamazoo; Jackie and Rob Diamond, Lapeer; Craig and Cindy Greer, Flint; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. MaryEllen "Mitzie" Gross, 73, died May 31, 2003, at St. John's Hospital in Detroit. She was born on April 17, 1930 to the late George and Viola Hack in Detroit. She was married on Feb. 5, 1949 to Gerald Gross in Eastpointe. They were lovers for 54 years. She was actively involved in "I Can Cope" Cancer Support Group in Schuerer Hospital in Pigeon, and Relay for Life. She was a lifetime homemaker, enjoyed flower gardening, feeding the birds, cooking and baking, having family get togethers and taking care of her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters and one son, Maryrose Patrick and her husband, William, of Bad Axe, Marvin Gross of Hartland, Michelle Durham and her husband, Scott, of Orlando, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Poole and her husband, Gordon, of Boca Raton, Fla.; one brother, Ronald Hack and his wife, Gloria, of Niles; many nieces and nephews and special friends. Florence Haubenstricker, 1909 - 2003 , of Billings, Montana, and formerly of Frankenmuth, died Sunday, March 30, 2003 at Deaconess Billings Clinic in Billings Montana. Age 93 years. She was born December 18, 1909 in Chicago, IL. Daughter of the late Fred and Emma (Kersten) Schnell. On May 23, 1937 she was married to Edwin Haubenstricker in Glenview, Illinois. He predeceased her in 1968. Mrs. Haubenstricker resided in Frankenmuth and Clearwater, Florida before moving to Billings, Montana where she resided until her death. Surviving are her children and their spouses, Allen and Mary Jane Haubenstricker of Crystal Falls, MI., Pauline Gyger of Big Timber, MT., Kathryn and Russell Formento of Billings, MT., and Nancy Howell and Linda and John Redwanz, all of Reese, MI. Andy David Hawley Mayville Died Monday, April 14, 2003 in Saginaw, at the age of 74. Andy was born May 15, 1928 in Kingston, the son of Merritt and Sarah (Hutchinson) Hawley. He married Edlough Dora on November 19, 1952 in Kingston. She preceded him in death June 11, 1993. Andy was honorably discharged from the US Navy. He worked at the GM Central Foundry in production retiring in 1975. He was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. He was past local union president and current chairman of retirees of UAW Local #455 in Saginaw. Andy was also the past chairman of the Democratic Party for Saginaw County. His hobbies included woodworking, fishing and reading. Surviving are two children, daughter, Christine and husband Ben Crowder of Kyle, Texas and son, Jeff and wife Cindy Hawley of North Branch; two grandchildren, Sean and Lori; several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews; and special friend, Virginia Garner of Caro. Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Edlough, parents, brothers and sisters. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. John D. Hecht, Reese, Michigan. Son of Ray A. and the late Kay (Findley) Hecht died unexpectedly Monday, August 9, 2004. Age 43 years. John was born April 27, 1961 in Saginaw. He graduated from Reese High School in 1979. He was a member of the Lutheran faith. Arvilla Heck, of Standish and formerly of Reese, died Friday afternoon, March 21, 2003 at the Standish Community Hospital. Age 81 years. The former Arvilla Nieschulz was born January 30, 1922 in Enid, Oklahoma daughter of the late Herman W. and Martha (Gallandt) Nieschulz. On June 7, 1947 she was married to Ervin G. Heck in Pigeon. He predeceased her August 30, 1981. Mrs. Heck was a resident of Reese from 1972 until moving to Standish in 2001. While in Reese she was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, volunteered at Bethesda in Saginaw and enjoyed cooking, crossword puzzles and quilting. After moving to Standish, she became a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Surviving are her two sons, Kurt E. Heck and his wife Carolyn of Lakeview, and Randall K. Heck and his wife Natalie of Standish. Five Grandchildren and their spouses, Michael and Vicki Heck, Kevin and Kara Heck, Danielle and Patrick Durham, Mason Heck and Devin Heck. Ernon Jerrid “Jerry” Henrichs Caro Passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw on Tuesday, April 8, 2003, at the age of 59. Jerry was born on August 29, 1943 in Barron, WI, the eldest child of Vernon and Mae (Rockman) Henrichs. He had lived in the Caro area since 1972. He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Joel of Caro, Steven of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Stella (James) Switala of Ypsilanti; nephew; four nieces; one great-nephew; two great-nieces; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Jerry will also be missed by the many who knew him at PIC and at 730 Williamsburg in Caro. Cremation has taken place, burial will be in the National Cemetery in Fort Custer, Battle Creek.

Shirley Ann Hill, 55, died Monday afternoon, June 2, 2003, at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe after suffering an apparent heart attack. She was born on Feb. 16, 1948 in Pigeon to the late Charles and Marie (Klee) Maxwell. Shirley has lived in Huron County all her life. She is a graduate of Port Austin High School. She made her living by providing home care as a nurse's aide. She was united in marriage to Rowland Hill in Pontiac, he preceded her in death on March 31, 1999. She was a member of the Caseville Eagle Auxiliary, and enjoyed playing cards and visiting friends. She is survived by two brothers, Fred Maxwell and his wife, Barbara, of Pigeon, Dale Maxwell and his wife, Betty, of Bad Axe; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Gary Horn; and six step-children. Norine A. Hitts, 1952-2003, of Saginaw, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, died Thursday evening, April 17, 2003 surrounded by her family. Age 51 years. She was born February 21, 1952 in Saginaw, daughter of Bernadine (Sigmund) Eaves of Saginaw and the late Jack Eaves and was a graduate of Buena Vista High School. On May 22, 1971 she was married to her high school sweetheart, LeRoy B. Hitts. He predeceased her December 18, 1994. Norine was employed by the United States Post Office in Saginaw and as a hairdresser at the former Golden Touch Hair Salon in Saginaw for many years. She was a member of the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese. Milton Hnatiuk, 72, of Harrison and formerly of Caro, died suddenly Friday, May 24, 2003, in Moore Regional Hospital, Southern Pines, N.C. He was born on Aug. 6, 1930 in Bad Axe to Samuel and Mary (Semeniuk) Hnatiuk. Milton was a graduate of Elkton High School, after which he joined the Army, serving in Korea. He worked at General Motors-Saginaw Steering Gear as a forklift driver, retiring after more than 25 years of faithful service. He was a member of the Local UAW 699. After retirement, Milton enjoyed working part-time at Joe's Bar in Reese, having coffee with friends and enjoyed having family get together at his house. He was a former member of the Caro Moose Lodge and current member of the Harrison Moose Lodge. Milton is survived by his three daughters, Rochelle Lynne Hnatiuk, of Apache Junction, Ariz., Deborah Barnett, of Chandler, Ariz., Kimberly Welcher, of Mesa, Ariz. from his marriage to Ruth A. Wayne J. Howell Reese Died Thursday afternoon, April 24, 2003 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Saginaw, at the age of 57. He was born on October 3, 1945 in Saginaw, son of Alice M. (Layer) Howell and the late Quentin J. Howell. Wayne graduated from Vassar High School and served in the United States Army. He was employed with Eaton Manufacturing Foundry in Saginaw for 39 years and married the former Patty A. Moore on March 15, 1996. Wayne was a member of the Gilford United Methodist Church, the Gilford Conservation and Rifle Club and the Reese American Legion Post #139. He had enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, watching birds, wildlife, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Surviving in addition to his wife Patty of seven years and his mother, Alice M. Amanda E. Ittner, 88, of Caro and formerly of Sebewaing, died on Monday morning, March 10, 2003, at the Tuscola County Medical Care Facility in Caro following a lengthy illness. She was born on Nov. 22, 1914 in Sebewaing, daughter of the late Charles F. and Emma R. (Gettel) Sonntag. She was united in marriage to Richard Ittner on Nov. 22, 1936 in Sebewaing. After 52 years of marriage, he preceded her in death on May 7, 1988. They lived in Sebewaing until moving to Caro in 1986. She was a former member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sebewaing and was most recently a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Caro. She enjoyed needlework and cross stitching. She is survived by one daughter, Karen Ann Peruski and her husband, Jerry, of Caro; one brother, Albert Sonntag of Sebewaing; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Sonntag; one sister-in-law, Doris Sonntag. Clifford H. Jacoby, 65, of Akron, died Sunday evening, November 16, 2003, at his home following a five-month illness. He was born May 7, 1938 in Unionville, son of Henry and Lydia (Balzer) Jacoby. He was united in marriage to Carolyn K. Adamczyk on June 16, 1962 in St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville. Clifford was a farmer in the Akron area for many years, was employed at Herter Music Center in Bay City and also was co-owner of the A & W Restaurant in the Bay City Mall. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Unionville, served as an elder, taught adult Bible class, was on the Thumb Gospel Convention Committee and also sang with the Praise Quartet for nine and a half years. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. Surviving besides his wife, Carolyn, are two daughters, Cathy Ruthenberg and her husband, Arno, of Owendale, Beth Kuhl and her husband, Philip, of Sebewaing; one son, Mark Jacoby and his wife, Deana, of Unionville; seven grandchildren, Zac and Jordan Ruthenberg, Laura, Leah and Lexi Kuhl, Amanda and Joshua Jacoby; parents, Henry and Lydia Jacoby, of Sebewaing; one sister, Dorothy Houthoofd and her husband, Erwin, of Akron; one brother, Jonathan Jacoby and his wife, Denise, of Millstadt, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews. Francis L. Jacot Kingston Passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at Caro Community Hospital, at the age of 85. He was born on June 30, 1917, at Owendale, and was a lifelong resident of the Thumb. On July 22, 1939, Francis was united in marriage to the former Lillian Gammage at Kingston. She preceded him in death on October 10, 1998. Frank was employed as a janitor at the Caro Regional Center until his retirement; and had attended the Kingston Wesleyan Church. He and his wife were rock hunters and enjoyed collecting, cutting and polishing stones, and making jewelry. He had been involved in crafts. He is survived by one son, Gene Ernest Jacot and wife, Donna of Mulliken; one grandson, William Jacot of Alaska; two brothers, two sisters and spouses, Keith and Neva Jacot of Frankenmuth, Albert and Marie Jacot of Kingston, Loretta Lestor of Florida, Ernel Miller of Texas; one sister-in-law, Clara Jacot of Mayville; his caregivers, Candy Coon and family; nieces and nephews to include Betty and Don Anger of Kingston and Joseph and Trudy Peet of Kingston. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by one son, William Edwin Jacot; a granddaughter, Susan Jacot; and two brothers, Lyle and Carmen Jacot. James D. Jacques, Fairgrove, Passed away suddenly Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at his home, at the age of 47. Jim was born June 4, 1956 in Caro to the late Walter and Laura (Martin) Jacques., graduating from the Akron-Fairgrove High School in 1974. He was a loyal employee of Tuscola County Medical Care Facility for 23 years, working as a attendant nurse, and later in the maintenance and laundry departments. Jim was a vice-president of a local chapter of AFSCME, a member of the Caro Gun Club and A.B.A.T.E. He found enjoyment customizing, restoring and driving motorcycles, cars and boats. For 12 years, Jum and his wife took in many foster children, adopting three daughters. Surviving are his four children, Aaron Jacques of Fenton, Judy Salgat, Cathyrn Turner and Allisa Jacques, all of Caro, their mothers, Rose Jacques of Caro and Denise Tretheway of Fenton; two grandchildren, Saymon Tabako and Kaitlyn Turner; tow sisters, Barb Jacques of MaGuire A.F.B., NJ and Brenda Jacques of Caro, one brother, John (Bonnie) Jacques of Deford; several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Anne Elizabeth Klammer, Davison, Michigan Mrs. Klammer, died at Harper Hospital in Detroit, Monday evening, June 30, 2003, due to complications from a recurrent brain tumor, age 37 years. She was born to Steve and Linda (Westfall) Zechmeister, of Akron, on May 26, 1966. She attended Akron-Fairgrove High School and Saginaw Valley State University on a scholarship. She worked in, and managed, several group homes in the Lapeer, Davison and Flint areas, and later worked in the Mortgage department at Republic Bank in Bloomfield Hills, while continuing to do home care at Braidwood Manor in Davison. She was a faithful attendee of Akron United Methodist Church, even during her recent illness. Surviving are her husband, Eric; her parents; her sister, Cheri (Zechmeister) Ahrens; her brother-in-law, Bob Ahrens; nephew, Brett; grandparents, Steve and Theresia Zechmeister; Eric's parents, Don and Pat Klammer and her numerous tropical parrots. J.D. Keller Caro Passed away on Friday, April 18, 2003, at his residence, at the age of 77. He was born on February 9, 1926, in Caro, the son of the late Albert Keller Sr. and Pearl (Dafoe) Keller. He graduated from Caro High School, Class of 1944. J.D. Keller and the former Arlene Louks were married on August 30, 1957. J.D. was a coffee route salesman for Pioneer Coffee Company of Detroit for 22 years. He then worked at Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring after 19 years of employment. He was a member of the Caro United Methodist Church. Jeanette (Atkins) Higgins King Kalkaska Beloved mother, grandmother and devoted wife of Jack King departed this earth on Wednesday, April 2, 2003 at Norwood Hospital in Mobile, Alabama. Jeanette was born to Eugene and the late Alma (Simpson) Atkins on November 4, 1934 in Vassar. She married Bob Jones in 1953 and started a family with him in 1955. They had five loving children together. In 1997, Jeanette retired from Lapeer Regional Hospital after 27 years of dedicated service as a respiratory therapist. Jeanette and Jack traveled between homes in Kalkaska and Gulf Shores, Alabama. In retirement, they enjoyed their time together visiting with friends and family. Jeanette is survived by her husband, Jack; her five children, Jeff (Ann) Jones of Vassar, Rob Jones of DeSoto, Texas, Dan Jones of Davison, Susan Beckman of Ada and Heather (Paul) Rossler of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; her father, Eugene Atkins of Vassar; her sister, Barbara (Bruce) Barr of Boynton Beach, FL; 12 loving grandchildren, who will cherish the memory of their grandmother forever; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her greatly. Jeanette was preceded in death by her mother, Alma Atkins and her brother, Thomas Atkins. She has touched the lives of many and will forever be missed in our hearts. A memorial service is being planned for June.

Zepherhills, Florida & formerly of Flint, Died Tuesday morning, October 28, 2003 at the Cartwright Center in Saginaw. Age 88 years. She was born November 12, 1914 in Chicago, daughter of the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Pilot) Bzdusek and graduated from Flint Northern High School. On September 26, 1934 she was married to Frank Klimes. He predeceased her September 12, 1996. Mrs. Klimes enjoyed crocheting, gardening, going to auctions, antiquing and especially her pet dog Effie. John D. Kraus Jr., Deford Died unexpectedly Wednesday, April 30, 2003 in his home, at the age of 15. He was born August 14, 1987 in Mt. Clemens to John D. Kraus Sr. and Cynthia (VanWormer) Kraus. John enjoyed skateboarding, playing video games and fishing. He visited the “Office” in Caro and “Airborne” in Warren to skateboard. John was very artistic. He collected Magic cards and other sports cards. He enjoyed racing his remote control truck. John attended Kingston Community School. Mrs. Lue Krukowski Reese, Michigan, died Friday, February 28, 2003 at the Celebration Health Center in Florida at the age of 69. She was born on July 15, 1933 in Dames Quarter MD., daughter of the late Creston and Mildred (Baker) Webster. Lue graduated from Saginaw High School in 1951 and married Richard “Dick” Krukowski on February 7, 1953 in Saginaw. They moved to Reese in 1963, co-owning and operating, Reese Plumbing and Heating. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Reese and had enjoyed, reading, sewing, traveling and had bowled in various leagues. Surviving in addition to her husband Dick of 50 years are her four children and their spouses, Catherine “Cathy” and Ronald Fritz of Munger, Karen and Wayne Krieger of Lapeer, Janice and Michael MacLeod of Reese, Michael Krukowski of Saginaw; eight grandchildren and their spouses, Vicki and Ben Deyarmond, Matthew and Kim Fritz, Kristen Fritz, Jeffrey and Julia Krieger, Jay and Deana Krieger, Melisa and Jason McLeod, Michelle Munsch, Danielle Munsch; six great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; three sisters and their spouses, Gloria and Joe Goring of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Nancy and Robert Gillig of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Joan Slocum of Saginaw; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Geraldine Templeton, Anita and Edward Dupius, Donald and Sharon Krukowski, Leonard and Linda Krukowski and many nieces and nephews. Oscar "Oakie" Kurzer, 76, of Caseville, passed away on Friday evening, May 30, 2003, at Scheurer Hospital in Pigeon following a long battle with lung cancer. He was born April 8, 1927 at the home of his parents, the late Oscar and Pearl (Chevailer) Kurzer in Sebewaing. Oakie grew up in Sebewaing and after high school, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines and served in the South Pacific during World War II. On Oct. 8, 1949, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Botwright in Bay City. After his service time, he returned to Sebewaing where he was employed at Sebewaing Motor Sales the next 17 years. In 1963, he opened OK's Leonard Service at the corner of Caseville Road and M-25 and moved his family to Caseville in 1964. The name of the business changed to OK's Boron Service before he sold the business in 1985. He continued to work there until he retired in February of 1990. He was a member of the Elkton United Methodist Church, the Caseville American Legion Post No. 543, and Hubbard-Winsor Lodge No. 420 F & AM. Oakie served on the Caseville Village Council for eight years. He was Sunday school superintendent and the church softball coach at the Sebewaing United Methodist Church for several years, chairman of the Advisory Board and trustee at the Caseville United Methodist Church for many years. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; two children, Charles Kurzer and his wife, Penny, of Metamora, Cheryl Abbe and her husband, Dan Jr., of Elkton; six grandchildren, Jason, Joel, Shannon, Steffany, Tracy and Eric; six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Betty Fry, of Summerville, Ga. He was preceded in death by three brothers, William, Maurice and Wallace; three sisters, June Jones, Marion Cady and Barbara Wittman. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 2, 2003, at the Elkton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Helen G. Lorentzen Saginaw, formerly of Cass City Died Sunday, May 4, 2003 in her daughter’s home, at the age of 90. She was born April 28, 1913 in Laurel to Charles and Anna (Ludwig) Steinmann. She married Donald R. Lorentzen September 10, 1933 in Peck. He died March 10, 1982. Helen previously worked part time at Cass City Floral. She was a member of Cass City United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Echo Chapter. Helen served as a member of the American Cancer Society Tuscola Board for many years. She served on the Hills & Dales Hospital Auxiliary. Helen enjoyed making hats, mittens and booties for the church bazaar and hospital gift shop. She played piano for silent movies. Helen is survived by her children, Anne Marie Lorentzen of Saginaw, Richard (Nancy) Lorentzen of Clio, Donald (Joyce) Lorentzen of Sun City, AZ; grandchildren, Amy (Joe) Poidomani, Nancy (Doug) Anderson, Daniel Lorentzen and Thomas Lorentzen; many nieces and nephews. Ruth B. Ludlum Vassar Died Wednesday, April 30, 2003 at Tendercare in Frankenmuth, at the age of 85. Mrs. Ludlum was born December 8, 1917 in Jamestown, New York, the daughter of Samuel and Blanche (Elkins) Wilkinson. She had been employed as a secretary for over 30 years with Michigan Bell and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Vassar. Ruth was married to Elmer Heidenberger, Harold Dierck and Lester Ludlum, who have all preceded her in death. Surviving are a sister, Maxine Vagaski of Vassar; stepsister, Dorothy Dierck; four nephews, Brian Wilkinson, David Wilkinson, Mark Wilkinson and Joe Vagaski. Besides being preceded in death by her three husbands, she was predeceased by her parents and one brother, Clifford Wilkinson. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 3 at Martin Funeral Home Clark Chapel in Vassar with Rev. John Becker officiating. Burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Saginaw. Hank Mai Caro Passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family and friends Sunday, April 20, 2003, at the age of 65. Hank was born May 4, 1937 in the Netherlands, the son of the late Roelof H. and Mary (Valkema) Mai. He went to Minot, ND in 1962 from Canada, and received the Citizen of the Year Award in Minot for his efforts in developing a sheltered workshop for the handicapped. He went to Wayne State University to study sheltered workshop administration and then to William James College to finish his bachelor’s degree. His education also expanded to DePaul University in Chicago and later to the University of West Virginia for postgraduate study. He received a vocational endorsement from Central Michigan University and a special education endorsement in 1982-83. Hank taught at William James College in the early 1970’s, where he met his wife Chris. Hank was united in marriage to Chris A. Ashmun on August 5, 1978 in Caseville, moving to Caro in 1979 from West Virginia. He was hired at the Tuscola Technology Center (formerly the Tuscola Skill Center) in 1980 as a construction trade instructor, retiring on April 30, 2002. During his career in education, Hank received many awards and citations including a Special Tribute Award as a finalist at the Seventh Annual Governor’s Service Award Dinner in the category of Service-Learning Educator in May of 2000, and received the Outstanding Educator of the Year Awards from both the Michigan Construction Teachers’ Association and the Michigan Occupational Special Populations Association. Hank was especially proud of his involvement with the development of the Caro American Youth Soccer Organization and the construction of the soccer complex in the Almer Twp. Park. Because of his involvement with AYSO and other youth activities, he was awarded the 1998 Caro Chamber Merit Award. Hank was a member of the Michigan Construction Teachers Association and enjoyed his membership in a local Saturday Coffee Group. Surviving are his wife, Chris; four children and their spouses, Garth and Diane Mai and Nancy and Randy Jongetjes, all of Holland, Haley Mai of Grand Valley State University and Dirk Mai at home; one grandson, Gordon Mai of Holland; two sisters, Mary and Erik Barneveld and Lineke Mai, all of the Netherlands; his extended family that includes two brothers-in-law and their spouses, Reg and Joan Ashmun of Sandy, Oregon, Bob and Krista Ashmun of Caro; one sister-in-law, Linda Lawrence of Caro; several nieces and nephews, Marc Ashmun of Colorado, Denver and Danica Ashmun of Caro, Thys and Nine Barneveld of the Netherlands; and a special cousin, Roel Mai also of the Netherlands. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 24 at the Colwood United Brethren Church with Rev. Rocky Spear officiating. Burial will follow in the Indianfields Twp. Cemetery in Caro. Eugene "Gene" Maynard Maitrott, 73, of Cass City and formerly of Rochester, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, in Marlette Hospice Residence. He was born on March 29, 1930 in Pontiac to Maynard and Lucretia (Kerr) Maitrott. He married Jean Marie Weldon on Sept. 12, 1959 in Rochester. Eugene graduated from Michigan State University. He served in the U.S. Air Force. Gene worked as a Certified Public Accountant at Ernst and Ernst in Detroit, Tolley International in Bloomfield Hills and had his own private practice. He retired in 1992. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 8892 and St. Pancratius Catholic Church in Cass City, the Rochester Elks Lodge No. 2225, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He was also a member of the Thumb Area Antique Auto Club and the East Side Model A Club. He owned a '29 Model A Roadster, a '56 Buick and a '63 Thunderbird. Eugene is survived by his wife, Jean Marie; daughter, Dr. Susan and son-in-law, Dr. William Weadock, of Ann Arbor; and granddaughter, Claire. Wanda Catherine Marshall, 83, of Reese died Saturday evening, July 5, 2003 at her home. She was born April 1, 1920 in Mayville, daughter of the late William and Laura (Goetz) Bodeis. She grew up in Mayville and on April 19, 1941 married Jacob Krumnauer in Vassar at St. Lukes Church. Mr. Krumnauer died December 16, 1960. She had worked at the Bethesda Thrift Store. On August 13, 1966 she married Harold Marshall in Reese at Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and belonged to the Ladies Aid at church. She is survived by her husband, Harold; her children, Nancy (Eugene) Reinbold of Saginaw, David (Sharon) Krumnauer of Grayling; her sister and brothers, Ida Richmond, Howard (Frances) Bodeis, Richard (Marilyn) Bodeis all of Mayville, and Clare (Ruth) Bodeis of Beaverton; sister-in-law, Margarite Bodeis of Mayville; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Maynard "Pete" Martin, 68, of Cass City, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Huron Medical Center in Bad Axe. He was born May 25, 1934 at home in Huron County to Claude and Mary (Hartsell) Martin. He married Elaine Loeffler in Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cass City. Pete was a member of the Cass City Masonic Tyler Lodge No. 317. He worked at the Box plant in Elkton for 32 years. He enjoyed woodworking and building lawn furniture. Helen Frances Karr McKinley, 97, of Caro, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, in Caro Community Hospital. She was born on July 27, 1905 in Millington to William and Ada (Akley) Reed. She married Floyd H. Karr on Sept. 29, 1924. He died Nov. 29, 1937. She then married William McKinley on July 1, 1942. He died on April 18, 1985. Helen worked a variety of jobs including at a laundry and picking beans in season. She was a Blue Star and Gold Star mother in World War II. Helen was the oldest living member of the Cass City United Methodist Church. She enjoyed refinishing furniture, china painting and going to garage sales. Helen is survived by her children, Aletha Misch of Cass City, Ellis Karr and his special friend, Ruth Freeman, of Caro, Dean Karr and his wife, Doris, of Caro; grandchildren, Richard Tait and his wife, Kathleen, of Bellville, Larry Tait of Dewitt, Rosemary Bushong and her husband, George, of Cass City, Alan Karr of Traverse City, Sharon LaPratt and her husband, Jim, of Caro, Debra Link and her husband, Jon, of Unionville, Kim Karr and his wife, Melanie, of Grand Rapids, Joyce Ann Schwartz and her husband, John, of Deford, Patricia Dietz and her husband, Duane, of Hiram, Ga., Ronald Karr of Deford; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Jannetta Conway of Ithaca, is the oldest and last surviving sibling at 105; and many nieces and nephews. Howard W. McMillen Gagetown Passed away Wednesday morning, May 7, 2003, at the age of 79 years. He was born in Curtisville, MI on June 4, 1923, the son of Clifford and Georgia (Bell) McMillen. In March of 1952, he married Nora Lee Belknap. Howard was a construction foreman most of his lifetime. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a life member of V.F.W. Post 3466, Cass City. He was affectionately known as “The Mule Man” due to his love of mules, and was a member of Thumb Draft Horse Association, and an enthusiastic rodeo cowboy. Surviving along with Nora Lee are their son, Manley (Cathy) McMillen of Deford; grandchildren, Jeffery McMillen and Jennifer (John) Brown, both living in Indiana and Kelsey McMillen of Deford; and four great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 12 at V.F.W. Post 3466, 4533 Veterans Drive, Cass City. John (Jay) McMullen Fostoria Died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at Lapeer Regional Hospital, at the age of 80. Jay was born April 16, 1922 to LeRoy and Phoebe (Thayer) McMullen and lived most of his life in the Fostoria area. He worked at Truck & Coach, Pontiac for 27 years. He was in the Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He is survived by his dear friend, Mildred Richardson and family of Fostoria; one brother, Bernard (Margaret) McMullen of Fostoria; four nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ralph McMullen. Funeral service will be at the Avram Funeral Home in Mayville on Thursday, April 10 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Robert Wall officiating. Interment will be in the Watertown Township Cemetery in Fostoria. Charlotte Florence Mellendorf, 68, of Cass City, died Monday, June 9, 2003, in Covenant Health Care Cooper in Saginaw. Funeral services conducted at 1 p.m. today at Kranz Funeral Home in Cass City with the Rev. George Ward, of Cass City United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment is in Elkland Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Rawson Memorial Library.
Joseph Michalik Decker Died on Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at Marlette Community Hospital, Extended Care, at the age of 82. He was born on May 3, 1920 in Detroit, one of a set of triplets. He married the former Bernice Rzeznik and she preceded him in death on October 16, 1993. Joe was retired from the Montgomery Ward Company where he had worked as an appliance repairman. He and his wife had a vacation home on Lamton Road in Decker and in later years he made his home there. Joseph served during World War II with the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Catholic faith. He is survived by his three children,; one of his triplet siblings, Sophie Jones of Springfield, Oregon; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his remaining triplet, Ann Keyes. Funeral service was held at Collon Funeral Home of Caro on Friday, April 11 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Stephen Fillian officiating. Burial was in Wahjamega Cemetery. Pauline Milligan, 92, of Cass City, died unexpectedly Monday, March 10, 2003, in her home. She was born May 20, 1910 in Cass City to Robert and Grace (Karr) Knight. She married James A. Milligan on Nov. 25, 1944 in her home in Cass City. Pauline was born, raised and lived in her home for virtually all of her life. She graduated from Cass City High School in 1927, and Michigan State College in 1931. She was a school teacher for Fairgrove, Unionville, Port Huron and Cass City schools. Pauline taught home economics and was in charge of the hot lunch program. She was a member of Cass City First Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed gardening, baking and sharing her food with others. Pauline is survived by her husband, James A.; sons, Dr. Robert Milligan and his wife, Dr. Sharon Danes, of St. Paul, Minn., David Milligan and his wife, Kristine, of Cass City; grandchildren, Adam Milligan, Samuel Milligan, Michael Milligan, and Elisabeth Milligan. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Vernita Knight, Lucile Knight, Elisabeth Althauser; brother-in-law, William Althauser. Funeral
