Ervin Miller, died last week. He left a host of friends. Friends who wouldn't know him if they met him on the street. Ervin's friends were the host of youngsters that called him Santa Claus each December. For several years Ervin was Cass City's Santa and he loved his job. That's probably the reason he was so good at it. His work as Santa wasn't detailed in any of the obituaries about him. . .it just isn't done, I guess. But when Ervin was around Santa was real, Santa was fun, Santa listened, Santa understood, Santa was alive. It's as good a reason as any, and better than many, for remembering him. 7-20-1972
