Mrs. Roy Davis Dies in Vassar
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Juniata Latter Day Saints Church for Mrs. Roy Davis who died Sunday at her home at 5270 Washburn Rd., Vassar, after a short illness. Elder E. S. Grinnell officiated at the service and the burial was in Otter Lake Cemetery.
Mrs. Davis, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Graves, was born in Sanilac County Feb. 2, 1890.
She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints of Juniata.
Surviving are her husband; three daughters, Mrs. Walter Werden and Mrs. Byron Williams of Lapeer and Mrs. Howard Fick of Vassar; one son N. J. Davis of Vassar; 13 grandchildren; on sister, Mrs. Henry Robertson of Farmington and one brother, James L. Graves, Peterborough, Ontario. A son Ronald J. preceded her in death.

Fred Johnson, G-3333 Miller Road (Flint), age 79, died Friday, January 6, 1956 at the residence. Funeral Services will be held at 3 P.M.,Monday, January 9, 1956, from Colonial Chapel, Riegle Funeral Home, 2417 S. Saginaw St., Elder Harold N. Williams officiating. Burial in Watertown(TUSCOLA COUNTY), Fostoria. Body will be at the funeral home. He was born in Watertown, Michigan, May 2, 1876. He lived in Flint since 1919: married Jessie E., preceded him in death on July 27, 1954. Surviving are: 2 sons, Earl Johnson of Napoleon, Mich.: Clarence Johnson of Toledo, Ohio: 2 daughters, Mrs. Leland Franks of Warren, Ohio: Mrs. Roswerll Glass of Flint: 9 grandchildren: 6 great-grandchildren: brother, Ernest Gooch of Mt. Levitz, Earl William, was born at Flint, Michigan, Nov. 15, 1921, the son of Charles and Rosenia (Richards) Levitz. He lived through much of his youth on a farm near Mongo. He is survived by the widow and child; by the father in Detroit; by the mother in LaGrange; by three brothers, Carl and Herbert of LaGrange and Charles of Mongo; by one sister, Mrs. Edith Prough of LaGrange; and by three half-brothers, Ray Collier, Unionville, Mich., Elmer Collier of Sebewaing, Mich., and Fay Collier of Montrose, Mich. The funeral will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the Caton and Frurip Funeral Home with Rev. Virgil L. Yohe in charge. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. James Orton died January 22. He was born May 30, 1951. Surviving, besides his parents, are several brothers and sisters. Burial was in Gilford cemetery. 02-01-1952


Dorothy May, the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Arthur May of the Brockway Wesleyan Methodist Church was born April 29, 1934, at Flint, Mich. She was converted at the early age of five years. She moved with her parents to Reese, Mich., where she spent most of her childhood days. She attended school at Lakeview where she finished her junior high. Feeling it was the Lord's will she entered the Mt. Carmel Bible School at Lawson, Kentucky, in September, to take up the 11th grade. She was taken sick and returned home about six weeks ago. She has been a patient sufferer. Her sunny smile and Christian disposition won her -way into the hearts of many people. She left us Nov. 28, 1950, saying "I see heaven. It is wonderful! Meet me." Besides her parents, she is survived by three sisters, Irene, Arlene and Verna; two brothers, Calvin and Jonny; a friend, Ray Johnson, at Chincoteague, Virginia, in the navy; her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Rinard, of Copemish, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Ira May of Flint, Mich. and many aunts, uncles, and cousins besides a host of friends. 12-1950


Oscar Myers Friends of Oscar Myers, an eighty-seven year old resident of the Fisher Convalescent home and a resident of Hurds Corners for many years were sorry to hear of his death at the home Saturday, December 12th. Promient County Lawyer Dies in Bay City Hospital
Guy G. Hill
, 70, prominent Tuscola County lawyer and Fortieth Judicial Circuit Court, commissioner, died Saturday afternoon at Mercy Hospital in Bay City where he had been a patient for one day. Mr Hill had a long and successful career in public office in Tuscola County. He served as Tuscola County, clerk from 1920 to 1924, judge of probate from 1924 to 1932 and prosecutor from 1944 to 1946, in addition to his office of commissioner which he held at the time of his death. Mr. Hill was a lifelong resident of Tuscola County. He was born in Gilford Township Jan. 2, 1885, and married the former Miss Minta Linsev at Saginaw in February of 1909. Mrs. Hill died Nov. 2, 1954. Mr. Hill passed the state bar exam to become a lawyer by reading law. Surviving are: three daughters, Miss Eleanor Hill, Miss Clara Hill and Mrs. Arden Goul, all of Caro, and four grandchildren. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the Methodist churh in Caro, Rev. Joseph E. Dibley officiated and burial was in Brookside Cemetery at Fairgrove, The body was at the Houston Funeral Home in Caro until noon Wednesday when it was take to the church to lie in state until services were held. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p. m. at the Douglas Funeral Home for Charles Oliver Spencer, 81, of Deford who died Wednesday, Dec. 21, following a heart attack at his home. Mr. Spencer was born in Gilford Township, Aug. 13, 1874. He was married at Caro, Sept. 28, 1898 to Miss Grace Stott. Surviving are his widow, three daughters and three sons. Rev. Melvin R. Vender, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiated at the final rites and burial was at Brookside Cemetery at Fairgrove. December 30, 1955


Funeral services for Eugene G. Hartwick, 80, were held Monday at 2 p. m. in the Douglas Funeral Home. Rev. M. R. Vender officiated and burial was in Elkland Cemetery. Mr. Hartwick died Thursday in the county infirmary near Caro, where he had been a patient since November 11. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hartwick, he was born April 24, 1872, in Hinsdale, N. Y., one of a family of nine children. He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Maude Wayne, with whom he lived, and two brothers, Edward Hartwick of Cass City and Harry Hartwick of Flint; nieces and nephews. 02-27-1953


Funeral services for James D. Hillaker, 89, of Fairgrove, a former blacksmith in Cass City, were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home in Fairgrove. Mr. Hillaker died Wednesday, Dec. 17, at his home after an illness of two months. Born Aug. 15, 1867, he married the former Lottie Jones Mar. 6, 1893, in Cass City. Surviving, besides his widow, are: three sons, two daughters, 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, two brothers and a sister. 12-25-1958
