Descendants of Andrew Smith
Andrew Smith came to West Jersey in about 1680. It is believed that he came from Yorkshire England, but I have not been able to verify it. Andrew is credited for naming Hopewell Township, New Jersey, when he bought 200 acres in 1688 from Cornelius Empson of Bandywine Creek, and named it Hopewell. The land is located is located in the southwestern part of Ewing Township, Mercer County, New Jersey.
