Bernard Tauber⁽¹⁾ was born on 7 Feb 1846 in Altenburg, Germany.⁽²⁰⁹⁾ He died on 16 Jul 1930 in Guyandotte, Cabell Co., WV. BERNARD TAUBER -- Eighty-four years old, one of the city's prominent business and civic leaders, who died shortly after 6 o'clock yesterday morning at his home, 418 Main street, Guyandotte, will be buried in Spring Hill cemetery following funeral services at 3 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the residence. Rev. E. H. Chart, of Duelth, Canada, will officiate. Death was attributed to advanced age and followed by a critical illness of 10 days. Born in Altenburg, Germany, February 7, 1846, Mr. Tauber came to America when he was 14 years old, going first to Canada, where he became a merchant in his early manhood. In 1880 he came to West Virginia and built a saw mill on New River and engaged in the lumber business there untill he moved to Guyantotte in 1884. He continued in the lumber business at Guyandotte until 1905 when he became a principal stock holder and manager of the Huntington Roofing Tile Co. He retired from this business five years ago. Many early improvements in Guyandotte and Huntington resulted from his civic activities. Mr. Tauber was a charter memver of the Huntington Rotary club and was a prominent member of the Huntington chamber of commerce. He was also one of the founders of the Guyandotte Bank and at the time of his death was a director in the institution. His wife preceded him in death six years ago. Surviving ar one sister, Mrs. Bertha Krotz, of Buffalo, N. Y.; five daughters, Miss Anna Tauber, Mrs. Elizabeth Adams, Mrs. Mac Stewart, Mrs. C. P. Kelley and Mrs. J. C. Poindexter, all of Huntington; one son, Dr. J. A. Tauber, Catlettsburg; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was a member of the Christadelphian church.
